Description This is a digital painting done in Painter 9. Took me a while, I had attempted to add a nice black tower, and the original painting has a huge cloudscape at 8000x5000px. I had decided to give up on my efforts until I get a wacom tablet. I have always been a fan of how Hobbit (An artist from Renderosity) made amazing water scenes with a near glowing quality to the water, always in a greenish blue scene. I just had to see if I could get my own style to it. After many hours this is where I decided to give up. I will most definately revisit this in the future to add the tower.

Take care and thanks so much for viewing! Comments are much appreciated.

I love it! It's so realistic if that's the goal you were aiming for - hyper-realism. I really thought it was a photo before I zoomed in! Anyone who's reading this please zoom-in here [link]
Really!

Awww thanks so much!!!! You are too sweet!!! I was testing my limits... Learning painter is rough let alone no wacom! I need to win the lottery so I can retire to artwork for a living!!!

I love the translucency of the waves, the finite detail up around the rocks. Holly smokes this is a fantastic water scene. BEAUTIFUL !

I was trying really hard on this one hahaha... I gotta finish it though, I loved the sky I had done but couldn't justify having it with no tower in the image hahaha... Thanks sooo much! I am really glad you liked this one!!!!

Thanks so much!!! I really appreciate that!
I have been interested in digital paintings for a long time. I'm glad that I can finally get some stuff made, although I really do need a wacom tablet to improve! I'm also going to be dabbling in traditional work again painting with oils & acrylic in the near future which I haven't done since highschool. As soon as I'm back employed I'll invest in a tablet and keep on plugging away. It's nice to be able to do all this work while I'm off! Kind of a good and bad thing!

You're very welcome! Geee, you have a solid artistic bg!. Guess you have already seen what does with his wacom tablet. Haha...when you get employed back, you'll have the cash, but no time, good and bad, as you said!!

Thanks for the compliments, very appreciated!

Yep it's a huge family ordeal here! My daughter, girlfriend, both sisters and one of our good friends Shannon is on here. It's too funny. The funniest part is that Shannon is my gf's best friend and we lived together for a few months before so she's like family too! It's great times on here that's for sure!!! I'll try to keep the noise down

Man, this is fantastic! The sky and water look like a photograph! The rocks still look a bit smudged the closer you get into the foreground, but I saw that it was your first try and most people can't do ANYTHING like this in their first try (hell I couldn't do it to save my life) Great job!

CryptFiend In reply to Phoenixel-AB [2006-02-26 19:46:36 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much! Yeah I guess the second person pointing out the foreground tells me I shouldn't have been so lazy with that part hoping it would keep people eye's planted across the water to the other rocks and the sky I'll get it touched up, add some texture and make them stand out properly! I appreciate the constructive criticism!

You're welcome And no problem with the criticism. If you're anything like I am then you would want to know what viewers think so the piece can be as perfect as possible... then again, not everyone is as much of a perfectionist as I am

I like this a lot.
The only thing I don't like about it is the blurry edge of the foreground rocks

I got a wacom for christmas

I'll touch up the foreground tonight Thanks! I was kinda hoping I could get away with being lazy with it since I wanted the focus to be off of that part of the picture Oh well, it's the second time somebody pointed that out I appreciate the constructive criticism!

you're unbelievable!
(who sings that again?)
personally, i'd like to see a bit more highlighting in the flesh color you have on the foreground rocks. i think the cool beauty and monochromatic setting/mood is captivating.

CryptFiend In reply to Kitchenbox [2006-02-26 18:37:29 +0000 UTC]

This is my first landscape I want to get better at it, I'll keep practising!... Thanks so much! I don't know of any songs called before the storm, but "Unbelievable" is an old EMF song! I think that's what you were going for hehehe... When I revist this I'll definately consider adding more to the foreground colorwise. In one version of this I had the clouds swirling up in an arch and a tower, but the tower looked like crap because of the lack of control over the mouse. I just gave up on it for now! I guess my dissapointment was in that I couldn't achieve what I was wanting with this, I spent the day yesterday trying to get that tower right and caved into submitting it as a purely landscape piece! Oh well, its' something to come back too!
