Description
So i totally missed out on Mermay since i've never really been a mermaid person but i wanted to draw my two bettas as either monster or humanoid versions of themselves so this was created. It started as just a lined sketched but i always get carried away.On the left is Valentine, my elephant-eared Betta and on the right Saffron, my Twin Tailed. (He's a real old grumpy pants) But i love them both to death <3

I have a couple betas in my outdoor ponds guarding all the guppies. they are <3.

Thank you! I really have a quick method to draw then actually. You draw zigzags touching each other! Much better then drawing off centered semicircles.

I love these two boys, especially how you've humanised em :'D Your elephant ear bab looks especially pretty, im a sucker for those big poofy fins QwQ <3 Although I can agree with the grump personality with em :'D My girls the biggest grump but a sweetheart really that will follow ye when you walk round the tank :'D

Ahhh Val is really such a curious sweet little boy! He loves to flare out his gills and comes to say hi all the time. Saffron is just grumpy and will just stare at you all the time from behind his plants. But it's great to hear other people that have bettas <3 I would keep a thousand if I could.

Aaaaa ;o; Its so adorable to see em come out to say hi to ya when you walk past like honestly its the sweetest thing ;o; <33 and pfttt I used to have a boy just like that when i kept males :'D He'd hide in his lil hut and just glare at anything that got near the tank x'D
Aaaa yes ;o; <33 Bettas are honestly just the best little fish <3 Saaaame :'D I used to have a giant tank with a sorority group of females but now I just have my lil yellow tinged girl Sunshine <3 She's also an elephant ear :'D

Ahaha it takes a lot of patience at times, especially with sunny :'D But my tanks a long rectangle so that makes it a lot easier I guess x'D I've never had a round tank so I haven't experienced the hassle with pictures but you can get some really nice above shots with round tanks ;o;
Aaaa Valentine is so gorgeous and his fins are huge! ;A; I also love Saffrons body markings, they're hella interesting with all the lil scale freckles <33

Thank you! Yes Saffron has some pretty weird markings with the black and aqua. And fun fact, i got Val when he was a wee baby so its been really intereting to see his fins grow to what they are now! And your girl is so precious <3 i always assumed all females were just shades if gray since thats all ive ever seen.

I think his markings are adorable <33 and really you got him as a baby? ;o; ohmygoodness thats honestly the best way to raise a betta because they just get so used to ya and you can watch them grow into these beautiful creatures ;o; <33
And aaa thankyou <33 I love sunny so much aha and I did too for a long time but when I really got into the fish keeping hobby(I used to breed different types of fish xD) I found that the grey look is mostly due to stress females are put under so they look grey and have 'stress stripes' but i've taken in a few girls who where grey and they grew up to be brilliant shades of blues and purples <3 Its harder to find females like Sunshine tho, I had to go to a specialist fish store for her :'D
