So someone on one of my side blogs asked what I thought of a Good Omens swap AU where Aziraphale is the demon and Crowley is the angel and I just… couldn’t stop thinking about it all day.
So here’s Aziraphale, the angel that asked one too many uncomfortable questions and wound up falling with Lucifer and the others despite not really approving of the whole ‘rebellion‘ thing.
Aziraphale’s not so different as a demon as one might initially think; he’s still polite, thoughtful, and intelligent as ever. Most importantly, he’s still someone who is deeply in love with the world and all it has to offer. The quaint little shops, the fantastic food, the wine, the books…
Where things begin to differ is that, considering he’s already fallen, Aziraphale the demon sees no need to hide the fact that he likes things; in fact, liking the things that he tempts others to indulge in makes him all the more effective at his job. The planet Earth is full of things to try, things that taste good, smell good, make you feel good, and by six thousand years sin, ‘Zira’s tried just about all of them. The nice thing about humans is how creative they are, though, and they’re always coming up with something new to try.
Food and drink are still one Aziraphale’s favorite things to indulge in, and he’s slept for a week straight on more than one occasion. The flat over his bookshop is decadently comfortable, and, veritable magpie that he is, full of all the many things he’s collected over the years that caught his eye. He’s no stranger to drugs, though after blacking out for the better part of sixties and seventies he’s laid off a bit. Despite most angels not feeling any kind of sexual urges, Zira quite enjoys sex as well, though he’s never the type to bring someone back to his place, personal sanctuary that it is.
He does a brisk temptation business partying with celebrities more often than not, and Hell mostly leaves him to his own devices to spread his particular brand of sinful temptation wherever he goes, though they don’t quite grasp just how well intentioned he is about it. Zira is a demon that loves many things, most of the time he just wants other people to feel good and have an even better time.
