It was a therapy pet. The kits in the den often needed the comfort, being alone in such a big place was often frightening for them.It's been doing this for so long, comforting kits who need it.
It would never belong to anyone, always passed to the next kit who needed a hug and something to pet.
Until it heard the voices. They echoed so clearly in it's mind, it couldn't help but search for the owners.
They were new, it never saw them before in the Great Tree.
They were new and it felt the sadness in their voices, a heaviness. It felt an itch in its paws when the kit that looked so similar to them walked past, pushing it towards them.
It followed.
