Recently I got some ideas to continune and bring the story of Amur, one of my planeswalkers, to a close maybe.
The idea behind Sebthis was that he was the ancient god of hunger and death before the recent generation of Gods we saw on Amonkhet. Along with a forgetten Elder God of life and creation they created a balance on the plane between life and death.
Then the new generation of gods came into being and fought against their predecessors as is a common theme for gods. However that actually spelled doom for the world as the first to fall was the Elder God of creation. This unset the balance of the world and as death consumed life overly it turned into the wasteland we see today with only very few places left for life. The young Gods eventually couldn't take down Sebthis and as he was death incarned he couldn't die by someone else's hand. Thus he got imprisioned in a black pyramide, deep in the dark corner of the world and the blood sacrifice of thousands should keep it locked forever. However, as Sebthis if father to Hunger also he feasted on the blood for milenia, eventually draining the magic and energy imbued in it and as most of the gods that bound him had perished he could break free from his prison at last, to find the world he once kept in balance down on its knees and he faced the choice of remaining in exile or rising back to power.
He chose the later as his presence without a counterpart to restore balance would utterly destroy Amonkhet.
