Description "for my second attempt I thought I'd try a semi-futuristic soldier based on the OFWish designs I used to draw as I was thinking having the armor would make it easier to envelope, and keeping things like the LBV modular based means I can easily whip up a few variations should I ever wish to animate a scene with them (that and I've been playing Battlefield 2 / 2142 a LOT over the past week, while looping Jared Hudson's Metal Gear May Cry Remix a million times)"

So it is more finished. Pretty much as far as this one is going to get as I'd rather start from scratch with better concept art than to make any major tweaks to this guy. I only really focused on the torso for thi character. The idea was more of a soldier that would act as part of a crew to a vehicle, so armored legs weren't really needed, nor was an assault kit sort of deal.

Scrapped: Another victim of time. I like the design still, so I might reattempt it in the future (either with lower polygons and actual texture detail, or keep a higher polygon count with less of a boxy appearance. Better toplogy either way)

The Outer Heaven team are currently opening up new positions. As we are still in early development, we're looking for several types of candidates to help us further develop our remake of the original MSX game, Metal Gear.
We're currently looking for candidates to fill the following positions:

* Level designers able to work with the source SDK
* Character modellers
* C++ programmers
* Cutscene artists (preferably in the style of Ashley Wood/Yoji Shinkawa)
* Voice actors

If you're interested in any of the positions mentioned above, then please send us an email with samples of your work, at: ianraty@hotmail.com
If you're just a huge fan and feel like you can be of any other help to our team, then feel free to tell us why you should be on this team.

Yeah, it was based largely off the OFW prototypes the military is developing, which is starting to make it's way into military games lately (AoT, GR:AW2, etc). The mask probably doesn't help, but those things look cool

Don't they have ballistic facemasks in development already? If they do they must have made them pretty durable. Even if they did, I would still would try one to find out,lol.

I can really see the Metal Gear influence there... never played Battlefield, so I can't compare that one...

I have a horrible habit of creating a new comment instead of a reply

"Thanks. I have to slightly tweak those pockets though as they are too similar and easy (which Carl didn't like)"

Blind-Leviathan In reply to Cryrid [2006-11-28 05:38:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Carl didn't care for my first model because he didn't think it was cartoony enough so I started doing models like Sol'leks.
