Daily Deviation?!: Thank you so much guys, to both the sneaky deviants who nominated and picked this, and of course to all of you who have commented, fav'd or swung through my gallery. This certainly brightened up my night!

I feel entirely slack for taking this long to finish one painting, but this is the prize for Pyre, who won my design contest a few months back.
However, despite the time it took me to get motivated, I am happy with how this came out!
My restraint should be admired - there are no clouds or dragons in this picture. There are however feathers. I just can't help myself.
This is one of Pyre's creations, a Ranta. My guy here is gleefully falling through the giant forest he lives in. Nothing like a bit of a leap of faith every now and then.

Lovely! I'm always amazed at how some people can take digital media and make it look traditional- you really pulled off that painterly feel. Adoring the light going through those leaves on the tree too.

Thank you. I've always aimed to make my digital work feel more like paint - it's always just fun to play around with making photoshop brushes that can give that look.
And the leaves were really enjoyable to do - I love the effect of light through vegetation.

You've done a wonderful job with the coloring! You know your color theory, now don't you?
That background is totally awesome! It's so detailed yet not so much that it competes with the detail of the character.

Thanks! Colour is something I'm always learning and experimenting with - these ones were a result of frustration awhen nothing else worked for me.
And I was worried about overworking the background - originally it had a few more elements but I got rid of them for the sake of keeping it simple. So I'm glad it looks alright - I was hoping it wouldn't be too bland after taking out the extra branches I had.
