Description
Soo, now I have fallen into Steven Universe and I can't get out. They are named after gems because they are an alien race of sentinent Gem stones that developed a humanoid appearance and all appear as female though they technically have no gender. In "Steven Universe", these aliens want to overtake planet Earth and use the planet to produce more gem soldiers for their armies, but Earth is protected by a young (half alien gem-half human) kid named Steven and his three alien gem surrogate moms.
Peridot is a more modern Gem that appears as the first villain. She seems to be a technician from the Gem's home planet tasked with reactivating the "Kindergarten", the place where Earth's minerals are used to create more gem soldiers. Once the Earth's protectors however stop her attempts and destroy her robots (and she hates her things getting broken all the time when she just wants to do her job), she comes to Earth in person, accompanied by Jasper.
Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August, if anyone wants to know. It is a stone that can be used for protection and cleansing, and is said to improve prosperity.
Jasper is at least 5000 years old. Gems do not age, and she has fought in the first war for planet Earth. She wants to find Rose Quartz again, who lead the rebellion against their home planet and decided to protect planet Earth. Jasper is very headstrong and likes to fight by using headbutts and her fists. She accompanied Peridot to Earth in hopes of finding Rose Quartz and seems to be a higher-up to Peridot, as she is seen commanding Peridot around. In comparison to her, Peridot has no fighting capabilities.
Jasper is an alternative birthstone for March. Jasper is considered a Power Stone and a Protection Stone and is said to give one the courage to speak out and have personal independence.
So yeah, I just love these two. I like drawing Jasper, as she gives me the opportunity to try a different kind of body type when drawing females, plus, I like buff and strong female characters. And Peridot is a total computer-nerd and I like how her body-type reminds me of the Reploids from the Megaman franchise. Peridot looks like she would fit right in there! I am not used to drawing her hair as just a triangle, I like to use some artistic freedom when it comes to her hair.
The sketches here was mostly just practise to learn drawing them.
