Description
Yeah I'm a little annoyed but now the hilarity of the situation has been amplified. Ash lost, lost before and he will continue to lose. Fans who want the show to change and are waiting for it to do so are cucks because they're getting screwed and they may continue getting screwed. I gave up on the show because of bullshit like this and just aimed to learn how to draw art that looked like the show's art so I could fill that desire to see things happen that will never happen.Related content

Ash was screwed out of the Kalos League. The writers are the ones screwing him.

It seems like all the characters who last for multiple gens or the writers never get rid of, like Ash, Team Rocket, etc wind up the worst handled overall because they never end.
The same happened to Brock in DP, and to a lesser extent Misty in Johto. The writers kept characters for multiple gens but then failed to do anything interesting with them or give them any development or focus outside the odd filler episode here and there. In a way you can say almost all the original Kanto characters of the anime got screwed over during the course of the anime:
- Ash and TR are constantly rebooted and never end
- Misty got shoved into the background in Johto clutching Togepi and lost most of her earlier personality
- Brock during DP especially became utterly pointless and was nothing more than a third wheel repetitive gag character. Even for most of AG before that he didn't do much.
It seems like characters who only last one particular series have it the best. May and Dawn had cohesive arcs that ran the span AG and DP was airing and they left, essentially giving them the best treatment over all characters. I'd wager to say even Iris/Cilan were handled better than Misty/Brock in the long run. Probably the same for Serena and Bonnie/Clemont too.
The OS was filled with some really weird writing choices in general, and the writers didn't seem to care about anyone other than Ash in the OS, so that might be the problem. Its kind of funny, when AG first started May could have theoretically been treated the same way Misty/Brock were and just stood on the side with Torchic in her arms. I'm glad the writers actually decided to make her into a major character and that was around the point where everyone realized Misty/Brock didn't have any proper focus on their goals to begin with....and this was way back in 2003/2004/2005....over a decade ago. And since then you can say Iris and Cilan were basically Misty/Brock "done right."

I actually have a friend who thinks Brock should return. He thought Brock was classic. As for me, I'd prefer a switch-out.

Brock got so boring in DP, he really should have left when AG ended at the latest. He also didn't have any chemistry with Dawn whatsoever so the DP trio felt boring as a group because of it.
Both Cilan and the duo of Bonnie/Clemont are much better and bring new life to the series. Even Tracey wasn't too bad. I admit I liked Brock returning for AG but that's probably just nostalgia.

I wonder if Misty even watches Ash's league matches anymore, the last one we saw her watching was the Hoenn league. They didn't show her watching in the Sinnoh, Unova or Kalos leagues.
Since Misty also doesn't visit Ash in Pallet when he comes home from a journey anymore either, she's probably just moved on with her life. Its especially telling Misty hasn't seen Ash since he came home from Hoenn...and that's 3 generations ago now.

Those adult fan cucks aren't the real problem; it's those meddling kids and their lack of understanding that they're being exploited. Let the little twerps all switch over to Yo-Kai Watch I say, and then Pokemon can go where it really belongs, catering to the old fans.

What logic does that make? Kids 5-10 years old watching pokemon for the first time haven't seen any of the older seasons, and they outgrow the anime when they become teens.
Likewise the writers will never make a show catering to 25-30 year old adults, how does that make sense? Most adults don't even care about the anime in general, even if it was made for them. What would they do, make some nostalgia fest with Misty/Brock just to cater to a small portion of adults who would watch? That's exactly why they don't bother.

Frankly, I find the anime's attitude towards its young viewers disgusting. It bothers me that it's characters don't age, but that's not exactly something I can hold against it when it's so common a trope. What I CAN AND WILL hold against it is Ash never winning the league. This is what they build up every generation's kids and then cockslap them with a loss every time. It's a sick attitude.
You talk about the "logic" of making kids' shows; tell me what is logical about the idea that if Ash wins a league, the show's over, when Ash always swaps out his old team anyway? He'd still have a challenge to face anew every generation, so nothing would change from him winning, except kids would get a happy ending to the season.
The only reason the creators can continue this sick relationship is it makes them money, and quite possibly it's just the products that make money while the anime just costs it.
Thus I say again, all power to Yo-Kai Watch. Let the young n00bs go off in that corner so the only thing left for Pokemon to do is cater more heavily to the last six generations of viewers they built up only to let down, preferably with an ending to Ash's story where he actually wins. From then on, I say promote the games with adaptations that actually star the games' protagonists.

While I agree Ash should have won a league, the overall format of the show probably wouldn't change much unless they decide to wrap up Ash altogether. Also, this has been happening for 20 years.
If people continued to watch past Johto, into Hoenn and DP, looked over BW, and came back for XY...over a 20 year span in real life, I guess it says enough. The only difference is now young kids aren't into pokemon as much as they used to because of Yokai watch and other shows, and also the fact that social media has exploded with youtube and stuff that didn't exist 10-15 years ago.
In any case the Pokemon anime has always been more about the journey than the destination. Even though the leagues are basically the "season finale" of each arc, you can tell a lot of people just enjoy the adventures Ash goes on with his friends and pokemon during the region just as much, see how his new pokemon team grows, what the new female companion does, whatever new rivals Ash has in an arc, etc. Its not like the leagues themselves were the only reason people watched the anime in the first place.

I guess not, but so many times, like in the episodes that alluded to things like romance and suggested characters had depth, that none of this ever goes anywhere is enraging. I don't feel like laughing constantly at Brock's embarrassing antics around girls he never gets when the series has made clear that he's actually a great guy; I actually want him to get his happy ending. His hooking up with Professor Ivy may have been abrupt and done for dumb reasons (suspecting some viewers somewhere might suspect the Japanese of somehow drawing a character racist against themselves), but I liked the idea of Brock going into a constructive relationship.

Its literally been 14 years since Misty was written off in 2002, and she's stayed gone every following generation. Her cameos also stopped 11 years ago back in 2005, besides stuff like flashbacks.
Most original fans are now in their late 20's or early 30's, they've long since moved on from pokemon and the majority of the Misty fandom has long since accepted she's unlikely to ever appear again. I'm not sure why you're acting so shocked that Misty isn't returning....this has been common knowledge in the fandom for like a decade.
Crystal Clair has been in the online fandom since like 2003/2004 around the early portions of Hoenn, she knows good and well how the cycle plays out. Its why she doesn't fret over Misty not appearing anymore like she did while AG and DP was airing, she accepted it and moved on. Most likely the show will go on for another 10 years, Ash will have like 8 female companions by then.

She and Ash were like the only ones who actually had a well written relationship over the course of the show. The others were just rehashes of their relationship or in Serena's case, kinda creepy.

The other girls other than Serena aren't shipped with Ash, and each girl's friendship is fairly different then one another.
