Description
This is for =FeatureShare 's contest with the theme of 'Contrast'I have done something a little different here. This is a representation of our world, and how there is such contrast. The woman on the left has nothing. The man on the right has everything.
The man represents us wealthier contries. We have everything we could want or need. The woman represents those countries in desperate need. The food represents the wealth in the world. It shows how some of us have everything, but we dont share it with those who have nothing. The chain shows how these people are forced to live in the world, seeing everything they dont have but are unable to get up and get some for themselves.
My question is this: Why cant the man get up and give some of his food to the woman? He doesnt need all of that. Why cant he take of her chain so that she can get some food for herself? This sort of this is happening every day. And we just let it go by.
So this is my contrast. And a very clear one it is too.

I decided not to use detailed shading, because I wanted this too look a little unreal, because it shouldnt be real. Instead I have darkened the womans side in order to show how she lives in poverty, and I lightened the man's side to show that he is happy and lives well.
This didnt turn out nearly as well as I hoped, but I have been working on it ever since the contest opened and I just cant do it anymore!
It is the most complicated thing I have ever done. 14 layers and 12 saved files. I have a whole new folder for it! i just wish it could have come out better.

I sense a sexist meaning here too, you just as well could have put a guy in the woman place. If you are depicting the downside of male dominance, well, if the man canβt respect the more frail nature of the woman and, as the title suggests, be a βgentlemanβ then thereβs no bright future for the woman at all.
As for the poverty issue, thatβs a pretty controversial problem itself. Apparently the rich people donβt care of the poor because they think theyβre superior to them, thet they are the only ones that respect the power of money or generally, that the poor and average are lesser beings.
If you cannot defeat hypocrisy then you cannot hope for equality in the near future.
I donβt know what to say otherwiseβ¦

I chose a woman mainly because then she would seem more vulnerable than a man. But that is a very good point!! Its great for there to be different interpretations of it, I feel honoured!!
Thankyou for your thoughts on the matter

I love the message displayed in this work! It's gorgeous!
I think that the background could use more work. It, too, could use some contrast. Maybe a middle ground? Or maybe he just might have the nicer part of the rom, whereas her side of the room is sparse and undecorated with no lighting?
Either way, it's a great piece! Well done!

Wow, I am amazed at the effort and the detail and hard work you've put into all this. It's a simple piece which I do like carrying a powerful concept. I love how you made the characters animated that it could be easily translated to children. And I could see this in a fable tale. I like the male expression of gluttony and the woman suffering and starving. Show this to Tony Blair huh?
I love the detail you put into the food. Well done hun. Finger's crossed
