Despite the fact that Disney and Dreamworks have decidedly gone their separate ways, Disney still endorses and helps to cover the cost of their movies, at the fee of later recognition. Even though Dreamworks is a well-known company, and puts out high-end animation, Disney still markets it under the "Touchstone Pictures" label.

Since Sixtoh was turned into a snail, I would guess that was a reference made to Turbo (the movie with the supersonic snail), though I don't want to assume, since, this could easily be cooincidence.

Alter your physical appearance? It didn't do that with Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy

It inverted Rainbow's wings so that she couldn't fly properly, and Fluttershy's voice was altered, which can be considered as altering her vocal cords (While not visible, that'd still be a physical change in my book).

If you watch closely, you'll see that her wings were moved to her belly instead of her back. It's hard to notice because of the art style.
