Description the first time I talked to nook in new leaf it felt weird, he was nice....maybe too nice. I was expecting him to be like, well like he used to be, but now he's a pretty nice and decent(?) guy/racoon. there's something wrong, I don't think that's the same nook at all D:

who is Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler?

He's a minor character (who sells food and other stuff that you wouldn't usually buy) from a series of fantasy books by Terry Pratchett, namely the Discworld series.

The books, in my opinion, are really funny, and some are almost parodies of other stories (like Wyrd Sisters, which has a lot of references to Macbeth).

There's some more info of Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler here: discworld.wikia.com/wiki/Cut-M…

There have been many books since the first book (The Colour of Magic, published in 1983) and still more are being written today

...Does that help? I'm a fan of the series, so excuse my over-enthusiasm

I noticed a mistake. When Nook took of his shirt, it switched from teal/yellow with diamond shapes on it to a pink striped shirt.

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-24 09:23:16 +0000 UTC]

Because the entire comic is based around Fluttershy becoming the mayor of an Animal Crossing village i.e. the exact same as Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the 3DS.

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-24 11:57:34 +0000 UTC]

Again CSImadmax should have explained that in the beginning because I had no idea what "Animal Crossing" was, I only had a vague feeling that there was some inside understanding that we were supposed to know the charecters, but the only characters I recognise is Fluttershy and Sonic.

These characters did seem to be a bit too dumb to be of her own doing, the big question is why she wanted to parody them to begin with

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-24 15:09:29 +0000 UTC]

That's like asking why TeamFourStar wanted to parody Dragonball Z. There doesn't need to be some important reason - she's an artist and she wanted to make a crossover comic. It's not a "big question".

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-24 19:41:30 +0000 UTC]

I don't know who team four star is, but I will have to agree with you that it would be nonsense to make a parody of something as bad as dragonball

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-24 20:38:41 +0000 UTC]

...you just completely missed my point. I don't know what you think you were "agreeing" with, but rest assured it has nothing to do with what I just said.

TeamFourStar is the creator of a fantastic DBZ parody on YouTube which is many times better than the real thing. Did they need a reason to do it? No. Did CSImadmax need a reason to do a crossover comic? Of course not. Stop looking for some divine reason for everything.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-24 22:33:36 +0000 UTC]

First of all, I have not talked about God, you just brought that up.

what I said, is that it is nonsense to do a parody of a bad show, because a parody is the greatest form of flattery. Therefore the person that does a parody have to think higher of the thing they are parodying then their own work, because a parody is like fanfiction on a lower level then original work. There is nothing wrong with doing either, but you have to be a fan of the original work you are writing about.
And a fan is someone that holds that which he or she is a fan of in high esteem. The object of a "fans" affection is an idol, and "idol" means imagine of the divine, something or someone that you worship.
Do you understand what I am saying?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-25 07:16:53 +0000 UTC]

First, I haven't talked about God either - I just use the word "divine" quite often.

Secondly, I'm not a DBZ fan either, but even I can admit that the TeamFourStar parody is absolutely fantastic. It seems you're basing your mental definition of a parody off of one or two instances. Whether or not a parody is better or worse than the original is completely dependent on the creativity of the one making it.

Here, maybe this will convince you otherwise:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyYrkc…

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-25 14:24:57 +0000 UTC]

I didn't talk about quality, I talked about attitude, you have to have an attitude of submission and reverence in order to make a parody or fanfic.
Objectively these types of literature is in a lower class then original work, irregardless of their qualities

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-25 15:53:11 +0000 UTC]

"You have to have an attitude of submission and reverence in order to make a parody or fanfic."

...I'm sorry, what? Did you pull that out of your ass? If you ask any fanfic writers or parody creators if that quote describes them, I'm pretty sure they'd all tell you to piss off.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-25 18:30:00 +0000 UTC]

oh? then please tell me what other reason the admiration one has to parodyse something. For instance Bobby Henderson created the idea of "the flying spaghetti monster" because he was deeply moved by the idea of teaching intelligent design in schools. True he had a very negative opinion on it, but it was still something that moved him deeply, and it was made as a direct response to that input. That is the difference between original works and parodies/fanfiction. These things are always just a response, a reaction, never an action in and of itself.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-25 20:05:20 +0000 UTC]

Then you have clearly never seen or read a decent parody/fanfic in your life. You've really missed out on a lot.

Your knowledge of the definition of a parody wasn't being questioned. You mental definition of the qualityΒ of parodies was.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-26 16:45:02 +0000 UTC]

what I said was that parodies are on a lower level that that which they are parodiding, as a parody is always a response to something that affects people deeply. It can be done out of spite yes, but even then it is still something that you care very deeply about.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-26 17:05:58 +0000 UTC]

Just because it's something you care about, doesn't mean the parody is on a lower level. I've seen enough quality work to prove that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-26 19:04:46 +0000 UTC]

but it is by the very definition that it is a parody

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-26 19:24:58 +0000 UTC]

"Parody:Β An imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect."

What part of that definition suggests that there must be a drop in quality?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rphb In reply to Guthixoftehjudges [2013-08-27 06:51:29 +0000 UTC]

the imitation part

Guthixoftehjudges In reply to rphb [2013-08-27 07:12:50 +0000 UTC]

And? That just shows you're basing it off something, not making it worse than the original.
