so yes, I've been away for a while because technical problems and stuff but now I'm back.now inΒ a semi-related note, let's say, if your hard disk start clicking and making sounds like crazy, does that mean I should be looking for a new one? my HD is like 7 years old btw.

If it's clicking, that means that something in the drive mechanism is either bent, broken, or severely damaged.
It's a wonder how you managed to keep an HDD working for that long!

Yeah... Go out and buy a new heard drive yesterday, back up EVERYTHING, and don't even TRY and see how long you can keep using the old one. You will shed tears as you loose some unsaved changes to a document when it does finally give up the ghost. Reminds me... My oldest drives are 7 years old too... With 22 TB, loosing 2 TB at a time is a BAD loss! Even losing several hundred GB is a horrible loss!
You can buy a good 3 GB drive these days for under $120.
Worth it.

By the way, the hard disk might have some issues already, you better talk to a technician right away while also backup your important files.
But mind if I ask, what brand are you using? 7 years old is pretty long and last very well,

Seagate's got a lot better now, just so you know. I'd still take Western over them tho.
Also, if a HDD is clicking, then it's got AT MOST a week left to live. Change it FAST.

HDD still don't last forever as we know, 7 years is only a matter of time till failure shows up anytime, usually 5 years it'll begin to have issues and must be changed soon. SSD may last longer in terms of durability but the level of danger of losing your files is greater than HDD, and still just as impractical when SDD's GB by cost is still ridiculously expensive, the adoption is extremely slow while LED technology adopted faster since it first came out years ago and today it's now cheap when most of them are now on our LCD displays.
But anyway, according to an article in Techspot, Seagate is still not doing well with their HDD. The tester experimented 3 brands, Seagate & WD, and even Hitachi. Hitachi come out on top, however, Hitachi HDD are very rare to find & buy.

I KNOW that Seagate's disks aren't the top, but they're still WAY better than before (when the bar is set at "dies after a week" it's hard to not beat). Also, Hitachi drives are rare now because WD bought the division (they're HGST now). And they're the best and are expensive because they're DATAC grade and not consumer grade disks (just like IBM's disks).
As for SSDs, they're not for data storage, never were, they're for system runtimes.

You got a point on the SSD, but still I find it expensive when I need it not just for Windows OS, but other applications too like Photoshop and I'm going to need bigger ones to hold that amount of GBs.
Anyway, but still, a lot of people still don't trust Seagate, past reputation maybe forgiven internally, but externally (which is us, consumers) it's not always forgiven and it'll become a scar that we all take note and made us stay away from them.

I can find 120GB SSDs for about a 100, compared to even last year where it was about 1$ per GB, so it's dropping. I have a Corsair one that i split in half (55/55) for a dual system and I still have quite enough space, even though I have a few suites on it. As for my HDD, it's a Green, because my dad just took the cheapest 2TB he found. It's kind of annoying as it stops every 20 mins. I want a Blue because I find Blacks to be too expensive for barely more.
As for past reputation, yeah, Sandisk still hasn't recovered either yet.
