If the BBC sued Hasbro for using Doctor Who.
It would be a taste of Hasbro's own medicine

Nice comic.
No offense but I don't think you used "BBC" the right way...
"The BBC" is more than just the name of a channel,... it's a... "really big thing" an organisation with lots of stations...
A "Representative working for "The Beeb" would use the following phrases, "The BBC" or "The British Broadcasting Corporation".
Calling it "The BBC channel" means you are refering to just one of several BBC owned stations.
TL/DR?
people in the UK are face palming/hoofing
please change "The BBC channel" to "The British Broadcasting Corporation", it sounds better and more official...

I don't know why he's upset.Β It's not like question marks have anything to do with Doctor Who.Β Everyone knows that the one image that has been most closely associated with the show since it began has been the hourglass.Β All those episodes which featured hourglasses prominently, all those times when the Doctor whipped out his trusty magic hourglass, all those planets shaped like hourglasses... if there's one symbol which defines Doctor Who, which expresses the character truly, it's an hourglass.Β Have you ever seen him without an hourglass?Β Ever?Β Of course not.Β Hourglasses and Doctor Who go together like time and space.Β Question marks, on the other hand, well, sheesh, pfeh, when has Doctor Who ever had anything to do with question marks?Β He's certainly never worn question marks, or had them on business cards, or carried umbrellas shaped like them.Β He's just not a "question mark" kind of guy.Β Hourglasses, on the other hand!Β Truly, those are what define the Doctor and everything pertaining to his mythos.Β All those question marks floating around Doctor Whooves clearly dissuade any reference to his character whatsoever!Β Hourglasses!Β Hourglasses!Β Hourglasses!!
...Hey, I'm sorry.Β That's just a really weird, severe sticking point with me.Β Blame my OCD.
The comic is beautiful.

Two incarnations of the Doctor (Five and Six) did have question marks on their shirt lapels and the Seventh Doctor carried around an umbrella with a question mark-shaped handle. Watches may have a more prominent presence in Doctor Who than the question mark but it's something we shouldn't overlook.
When you get down to it, the question mark is a subtle nod to the Question: Doctor Who? We know everything that the showrunners over the years want us to know about this humanoid alien but there are still unanswered questions. Questions we don't really need to know, like his real name, and the question mark does the job of reminding us of that just fine.

I know.Β I love the question mark motif.Β When I wrote all that I was being sarcastic.Β It drives me up the wall that the fandom seized on an hourglass as the Doctor's hypothetical cutie mark when a question mark would have suited him much, much better.

Erix19 In reply to JoeEngland [2014-04-03 04:46:48 +0000 UTC]
A question mark cutie mark does not make much sense to me as either a Doctor Who fan or a FiM fan. I pretty much owe the fact I'm a Whovian to that hourglass. I doubt I would be such a Whovian if it had been an unassuming question mark.
On the DW side of things, he's a Time Lord. An hourglass on a ponified version of him is going to be the best representation of his actual race and what he does for a living (traveling through time and space). A question mark doesn't represent them all and it's not like fans even care that much about the Question and the unknowable answer to that Question. For some of us, his true identity means less than nothing in the broader scheme of things. He's just the Doctor and that's good enough for us. HeΒ is more associated with his time/space travel than he is anything else except the TARDIS and the sonic screwdriver.
Β
As an FiM fan, cutie marks represent a pony's talent obviously. A question mark cutie mark would mean the pony is either very good at mystery novels or his talent is unknowable. Doesn't exactly fit in with the Doctor's image and doesn't make much sense as a cutie mark. Considering his official name is Time Turner to non-Whovians, an hourglass cutie mark still stands as the more sensible choice.
