I love this picture, it's so mystical!
I think this could be a picture of Luna on the day, she decided not to lower the moon anymore and became Nightmare Moon.
Because it looks like she has averted her head from something which hurt's her to see, maybe after she discovered that the ponies are sleeping during her nights and not enjoying them like the days of Princess Celestia, and looks kinda sad on this picture.

We listened to Hijo de la Luna in Spanish Literature class today. Then I remembered seeing this drawing a while ago and came back to see if it was related to that song. I read the description and...it was!

Oh my Celestia!!I love the song hijo de la luna!!I listen to it all the time, my family is a great fan of Mecano. My favorite songs are hijo de la luna, naturaleza muerta, una rosa es una rosa, el cine and dalai lama. Thank you so much for giving the credit to the song, it NEEDS more love.
And the drawing is a perfect representacion of the song, it has that enchanted and soft feel to it. So magical and mistical just like Princess Luna.

"Still at night I see her figure, flickering on moonlight glades.." (from "Daughter of the moon" by Insomnium). I definitely love this picture, Luna looks very beautiful here, and the background is amazing. Btw I also listened to Mecano when I was a kid hahaha.
