I doubt this with Superman

I don't. For him, fighting saitama would be like fighting Mr. Mxysptlk without making him say his name backwards.

Name one feat that Saitama has over Superman

He's a joke...

I think you missing the punch line.

You have these amazing characters, superman, goku, Thanos, the Hulk, who are capable of some amazing feats, able to beat multidimensional opponents, and only keep getting stronger over time.

And then you have this random, plain looking bald man who looks at all their feats and blows them all away with a single punch. His limits are only theoretical and his power is literally limitless. Trying to put him into any mold like DC, Marvel Comics, Shonen Jump, and he'll just break it by accident. He's a gag, a walking punch line. No problem he faces will be punched away. Which is why you should never have him fight someone else a la death battle because his power can never be gauged. He's basically that Ultimate Shaggy meme, but an official character.

He's boring!

And now you see the point of the character. While his 'fights' look impressive, the only real stake is if Saitama is involved or not. If he is, great, the good guys win. If not, then we're either being shown the power of other heroes or we're waiting for Saitama to show up.

Hell, even he's bored with the power. Without the stimulation of challenge, he's bored beyond his ability to even feel emotion. And we see that constantly. In the end, One Punch Man isn't like any typical Shonen anime. Saitama isn't about fighting or even pushing your limits (it can't be if he's a living deus ex machina), it's about just doing what's right.

Even with no conflict in his life, Saitama is a true hero. He saves weaker heroes and their reputation by choosing to lie about his victory, he saves innocent people every day despite the public either disliking him or just ignoring him all togeather, and he leaves a positive impact on most people's lives. While he's no Superman or Goku, he does teach values and morals like the two iconic heroes, just not with pure action like breaking down dimensional barriers or flying around the universe stopping universe destroying missiles in a single heartbeat. Saitama teaches people that they should do what makes them feel happy and that the easiest path isnt always the best. That is the nature of One Punch Man.

I know what it is, doesn't mean it's good.

And what makes it good?

Humor, writing, action, characters, plot, generally anything you'd expect from an anime.

I can say the same thing for a lot of anime

Great, now you know why people like it and why having saitama in a death battle isnt a very smart idea.

I then pointed out your reasons are very subjective and vague

Redlight47 In reply to Xenomaster [2019-10-17 16:31:28 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean subjective? It's fiction, it's all subjective. Some people like it some don't. If you can't understand that very basic concept. Then I feel sorry for you

And I don't. For one thing, other anime do overpowered characters right
