I had an idea for a scene without a story, so here we have Twilight and Pinkie eavesdropping on somepony's conversation.I'll let people's imagination take care of the rest. Hope you enjoy!

T: Those two merchants are talking about a cargo of meat to be send to... Ponyville?
PP:Wha-
Twilight put a hoof over Pinkie's mouth to cut her off while glancing at the two ponies to make sure they didn't hear her.
T: That was close. You promised me that you would remain quiet if you came! *sigh* I knew you should have stayed at the hotel!
PP: B-but... Aww.. You don't trust me...
T: No Pinkie, it's not that. We need to get informations and bring them to our quarters. We will need to repeat...
PP: Ah! That we won't need to.
T: Huh?
Pinkie Pie revealed a recording machine she had under her tunic.
PP: See? I recorded everything.
T: What we said or what THEY said?
PP: Oops! I forgot to put a microphone.
Twilight facehoofed.
PP: Wait! They are saying something else... *gasp* I know who!
T: Uh... Who?
PP: Yes, who. I know who.
T: But... who is who?
PP: The one I know.
T: Uh....
Merchant1: Are we bothering you with your conversation?
T: Oh no!
PP: Uh.... no. Carry on. We are..... uh..... deaf. Yes deaf.
Twilight facehoofed again..
Merchant2: Then, how come you can hear us?
PP: I... read on the lips.
M1: I see no deaf being able to talk. How come you can?
PP: Magic power? Duh.
M2: Magic?
T: Yes, like this!
Twilight and Pinkie Pie disappeared in a flash of Twilight's teleportation spell. They reappeared in front of their hotel.
T: That was very close...
PP: Aww.... We were having a funny conversa-
T: PINKIE! Do you have any idea how much in trouble you put us?
PP: I know. But now, we have their chat recorded, we seen how they looked and I was able to take all their papers and stuff while we talked. And we even know who will receive the cargo. Isn't that what we were looking for?
T: Uh...
PP: Let's go to the hotel's restaurant. I heard they make incredible Γ©clairs and cream slices. Lalalalalala....
Pinkie jumped happily inside the hotel, while Twilight remained alone in front.
T: I.... I don't know how she did it, but... Grrrr! I really need a glass a cider right now.

Dear Princess Celestia
After we arrived to Saddle Arabia two weeks ago, we have been able to blend in the local population as travelling merchants from Equestria. Our contact with the Saddle Arabia's goverment has been extremely helpful, and has provided us with everything we need.
So far we have been able to uncover some additional information about suspicious Changeling smuggling activities here. All Changeling living or visiting here have clean records, with no-one standing out as obviously suspicious and all appearing as ordinary as anypony on Equestria. However, their activities were far from ordinary, when started to observe them during dusk and night time.
We managed to overhear a discussion between two Changeling shopkeepers, who, according to the city records have been living here at least year and a half, talked about "the package" that was due to arrive day after tomorrow.
I will report more then.
PS. I am sorry that I questioned your wisdom of taking Pinkie Pie as my companion for this mission, her "Pinkie sense" has saved us from being discovered a few times. I now see the need for having somepony like her with me here. I also see that my own skills still need more practice.

I don't know why exactly but it reminds me of Spice and Wolf because of the trade-like atmosphere, it might be a harbour or something similar. Also there was character wearing cloak and mask.
