Description
In 1974,a company called MPC released four ready-to-assemble-and-paint model kits based on the Haunted Mansion---although none were depictions of actual scenes from the attraction, one did feature an organ not unlike the one in the grand ballroom, while another had two characters who resembled the executioner and chained prisoner ghosts from the graveyard---each assembled piece had an additional feature,a hidden button which, when pressed, would activate a brief bit of animation---"Zap/Action",as they called it.My personal favorite,"The Vampire's Midnight Madness",which inspired this work, showed a traditional vampire standing in a graveyard, next to two tombstones.Pressing the button on his back caused his straightened arms to fly up,spread-eagle style, his right hand knocking the gargoyle head from the large headstone on his right, revealing an iconic image seen a great deal in the '70's---the smiley face.

That gravestone symbolizes the oddness of the interactive area of the WDW Haunted Mansion.

While my vampire is patterned after the one in the model,I've never,EVER had any use for that weepy/misunderstood/teen angst vampire crud.Gimme Bela Lugosi,Christopher Lee or even Max Schreck ANY day of the week!
