You need to get the $10 from doug first, how many times have I told you this!?!?

Plus I'm currently saving up for a $1650 lens for my camera.

Nice shot for the 1st go - a lot nicer than my first attempt

One thing about shooting the moon that I learned the hard way, it's ALL about getting the focus perfect and having a steady tripod ... a remote shutter release doesn't hurt either

After you get your focus set (manual is the way to go) - play around with smaller apertures like F8-F16 and vary the shutter to compensate - you will find the sweet spot for your lens before you know it - your 70-300mm should be really sharp around F8

Also, if you get a 1.7x or a 2x teleconverter you will be amazed by what details your 300mm lens will bring out

Anyways, great work, I'm looking forward to seeing more from you – 48 hours till it’s 100% full – there will be plenty of shots available if the clouds cooperate – best of luck, keep that Canon clicking away at it

man, that is a biiiiiig moon! I wish there were stars in the picture to fill up the right side, but it has been a cloudy summer so I can't complain! Lovely moon

the stars probably wouldn't show anyway, they need a very long exposure to show (usually 30 seconds or longer) this shot was only 1/60 second exposure, the only way stars would come out is if I took two separate shots and photoshopped them together (which i might just do now that i think of it )

Also, the moon wasn't quite that big in the original spot, the image was cropped down a lot.
