Cling: “*Sigh.* I suppose this is the place.”

I didn’t really know what to look for. She had just given me directions, telling me that it was a surprise. I was never a big fan of surprises, but for her I’d make an exception.

We’d been dating for awhile now, and I had loved every minute of it. There was something… different about her. I don’t know what it was about her but I somehow just felt… safe around her. And happy.

Cling: “Atia?”

No response.

Cling: “Atia? You here?”

Still nothing. This is where she wanted to meet me, right?

I started to worry. Had I got the time wrong?

I look up in the sky and saw the sun almost directly ahead. She had said to come in the middle of the day, and it was practically high noon.

Was she late? No. Not possible. She was never late.

Was I in the wrong place? Possibly, but…

She always seemed to like water. At first I considered it odd since she was a cat and all. But after awhile it started to become cute in my eyes.

If she wanted to show me something it would no doubt be some water. And this lakebed was very beautiful I had to admit. If she was to meet me somewhere, it would be here.

So I was on time and in the right place, and she couldn’t be late. So then why wasn’t she answering me?

I suddenly felt my heart sink. Was she not here because… she ditched me?

No. No no no! It was possible! She loved me! She wouldn’t leave me alone someplace like this. Unless…

Was she… was she dumping me?!

I tried to push the thought out of my mind, but it became stronger and stronger the more I tried. She hadn’t come because she didn’t want to. Because she didn’t care about me anymore. Didn’t love me anymore.

Cling: *Crying.* “Atia…”

Small teardrops came down my face. What had I done to lose her? Was it something I said? Something I did? Something I didn’t say or do?

I would never know. She was gone, and I’d likely never find her again. Once again I was alone: The one thing I cared about… gone.

I sat on the edge of the lake and cried, wishing I could see her just one more time. Her dark blue fur. Kind smile. Amazing laugh. Beautiful black eyes. And her voice. Her sweet… sweet voice…

Atia: “I’m right here Cling!”

I gasped. Was that just my imagination or…?

Atia: “*Giggles.* No I’m real.”

Cling: *Surprised.* “A-Atia?! Where are you?!”

I looked around but couldn’t see her anywhere. As I looked around I heard her giggling.

Atia: “Look down darling!”

I looked down and saw… the water. Crystal clear and beautiful... with nothing inside.

Cling: *Confused.* “Atia? I don’t see you in there.”

I peered into the water, searching for the panther.

She laughed.

Atia: “Well then let me come into view.”

(Splashing sound effect.)

Suddenly a huge blue dragon came out of the water. I gasped, and felt my heart drop for entirely different reasons.

What was this creature? What did it want? Was it going to kill me? Eat me? Oh god it was, wasn’t it?! I was about to be eaten!

The creature looked me and laughed with… Atia’s voice?

Atia: *Happy.* “Oh did I scare you Cling! I wanted to make my introduction a little more subtle, but seeing you crying there… I just had to show you that I was here!”

My jaw dropped as I stared at the creature… no. Atia. I stared at Atia in shock and horror. My girlfriend. My panther girlfriend… a dragon?

Cling: *Shocked.* “A-Atia?! You’re a dragon?!”

Atia giggled.

Atia: “Hydrophius, to be exact. I’m sure you’ve learnt about me in school.”

I thought back to my classes on magical creatures. How several students stared at me during the class on gryphons. But then there was that class on dragons… Yeah! I remembered the part on Hydrophiuses!

Cling: “W… Well, if I’m remembering my classes properly Hydrophiuses… Hydrophi? Well, whatever the plural is, they’re ageless shape shifting water creatures who primarily take the form of dragons.”

Atia let out her beautiful, happy laugh, instantly soothing what few nerves remained inside me.

Atia: *Happy.* “Very good Cling! Are things starting to make sense now?”

I nodded. They were starting to make sense. That panther I met and had started dating: She was this dragon. Or more specifically: She was a shape-shifting water creature.

After a short moment of silence I spoke up again.

Cling: *Blushing.* “But… if you’re ageless… how long have you been around?”

She laughed.

Atia: “Don’t worry about it, Cling dear! No matter how old I am, I’ll still love you!”

I laughed as well. Atia had always been able to make me smile.

Cling: *Blushing. Smiling.* “Y-Yeah. I guess you’re right.”

I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly.

After awhile Atia gasped.

Atia: “Oh yes! There’s something else I wanted to show you Cling!”

Cling: “What? Something more impressive than my girlfriend being a dragon?”

Atia: “*Giggles.* Sorta.”

She opened her mouth wide. I stared up at it in horror, slowly backing away from the gaping maw that could easily swallow me whole.

Cling: “A… Atia?”

Atia’s dragon head started coming down towards me fast, her maw open wide.

Cling: “A-ATIA?!”

*SNAP!*

(Screen goes dark.)

Cling: “A… Atia?”

I whimpered quietly in the darkness. I could feel my feathers and fur getting soaked with saliva… her saliva. My girlfriend’s saliva. I was inside her mouth. A small piece of meat for a humongous dragon.

She started licking me over, purring happily. I yelped as I was pushed around by the giant muscle, completely drenched as she tasted me over.

Cling: “Can I come out now? Please?”

After tasting me over for awhile she stopped. I sighed with relief.

Cling: “Can you let me out now, darling?”

I suddenly felt gravity shift. I started slowly sliding towards her throat.

I screamed in fear.

Cling: *Terrified.* “A-ATIA! STOP!”

I continued to slide towards her throat

Cling: *Terrified.* “NO! PLEASE!”

She swallowed me, purring with delight. I started to cry as I felt the throat muscles around me pushing me downwards, slowly bringing me to what would no doubt be my eternal resting place.

Cling: *Crying.* “A… Atia… why?”

I closed my eyes and cried as I felt myself being slowly transported down into her stomach. I reflected on all the happy moments I had in life… and realized how many of them had her in them.

I couldn’t believe it. My girlfriend ate me. I was going to die inside her. It would honestly be romantic if she hadn’t swallowed me against my will.

All those happy moments we had: Were they fake? Was she just trying to get close to me so she could have me as a quick snack?

I cried all the way down her throat. I felt myself fall down and land in a pool of water.

I opened my eyes and looked around. As my eyes adjusted to the light I could see the ruby red walls around me. I knew where I was: My tomb.

Cling: *Crying.* “Why… Atia… I loved you…”

I began to sob again. Outside I heard Atia let out a sad sigh.

Atia: “Cling I…”

I kept crying, not wanting to listen to the reasoning this vial creature had to deceive me. To snatch all my happy memories away in her jaws, and then digest me inside her.

Atia: “Cling please. I just…”

Cling: *Crying. Angry.* “No! Don’t try to make me feel better, you evil creature! All that time we spent together: It was just for you to have me as a meal! Those were some of the happiest days of my life! And you… And you…”

Cling: *Sobbing.* “You took it all away. Just to have me as a snack.”

After what felt like an eternity of me crying, the dragon began to cry as well.

Atia: “Cling I… I’m so sorry.”

Atia: “I thought you’d be okay with this! We’d been going out for so long and we started to get close! I just wanted to bring you close to my heart.”

I heard her sobbing grow stronger.

Atia: “And now I’ve ruined it all. Destroyed our relationship forever. All because I wanted to see what my boyfriend tasted like.”

She continued crying for awhile. Still nervous of what she might do, I spoke up.

Cling: “So… You w-weren’t planning on digesting me?”

She gasped.

Atia: *Shocked.* “What?! Oh good heavens no!”

Atia: “Oh you must’ve thought I was going to kill you! Cling I’m so sorry!”

She continued to cry. I felt my sorrow melt away as it was replaced by compassion.

Against my better judgment I spoke up, saying something I never thought I would say just a few moments before.

Cling: “It… It’s fine, Atia. I’m okay with you eating me.”

She gasps with joy.

Atia: *Crying. Smiling.* “R-Really Cling?! You still love me?!”

I let out a happy laugh, my joy over realizing she still loved me mimicking her own.

Cling: *Crying. Smiling.* “Yes darling, I still love you! You’re one of the best things that has ever happened to me!”

Cling: *Crying. Smiling.* “And if you want me to be in your big dragon belly well… I’ll do it! For you.”

Atia let out a laugh of pure joy.

Atia: *Crying. Smiling.* “C-Cling! You’d… You’d really do that for me?”

I laughed.

Cling: “Of course Atia. I’d do anything for you.”

I started rubbing the inside of her stomach. She let out another joyful laugh and started nuzzling her belly.

Atia: “Oh Cling! I hope we can be together for as long as we live!”

I chuckled and smiled.

Cling: *Smiling.* “I hope so too Atia.”
