I like the blue theme in this picture.
She may be small, but she has the face of a fearsome warrior. And if that didn't convince the viewers, then her naginata, with its blood red color and razor teeth, will.
Finally, I like the idea of the border. When in full-view, the character appears to walking out of the picture (seriously, it gave me quite a shock when I saw her foot stepping out of the picture).

HOLY CRAP! That is so awesome! Even though I'm not really a fan of this character, every once in a while there is a picture of her that's just too awesome to ignore.
If you want to keep experimenting with this style, you should do one of Steffi next.

First i got to say the lighting caught my attention .. it's pretty dramatic and fits well with hanabi's serious expression and pose.

This is likely the coolest coloring job I have ever seen you do one DA. It's seriously awesome. But don't abandon cellshading! Cellshading is awesome too!

for some reason all that keeps popping into my head is her getting beamed up by aliens and going, 'aw, man, not AGAIN!'
but as far as the art goes, the heavy highlights give this colouring style a really distinct and cool look; it's especially nice on her coat. Try making the highlights more intense on her hair, though; it would help bring it together. Hair is more reflective than cloth, so the fact her hair is duller than her coat is a little unbalancing. But overall, excellent job!
