Description A few months ago in my apparel process class, we got a men's sloper and used it to make a blazer. I then realized that I could use the same sloper to make a Cas jacket. So I made that pattern, sat on it for two months because I didn't have no fabric, and then finally sat down this weekend and sewed it all up.

I wouldn't really use it for cosplay: I just wanted something to run around in. As it's a men's jacket, it fits very large on me, coming right past my bum. This was intentional: I really like throwing oversized jackets over dresses and things.

Thanks! There are a few wonky places on it (like one where I realized I totally did the wrong seam, but I quite like it despite that.

Right on! This is lovely work! So many people just order stuff on ebay now a days. Is this a college class?

Oh thanks! I probably would have ordered it from somewhere had I been able to find what I was looking for (though, considering that all my materials--of which I still have a lot of--came to a total of $20, I was probably better off not). It's not exactly as good a quality as I could by--I'm not very confident in my sewing skills--but I quite like it despite this.

Yes, it's a college class, though the patternmaking and sewing for this was on my own time.

Nooooo but all I had to do was hand them over to her (and even then I spent a great deal of time trying to remember explain how they all fit together.

What's a sloper?

cubeykyuubi In reply to Cathode-Ray-Tube [2011-07-04 22:30:29 +0000 UTC]

It's a basic flat pattern that doesn't have any style details or seam allowance or anything. You can then manipulate it to create the details like neckline, seams, darts, etc. for your own patterns.

I got mine from school. We were taught how to drape them ourselves, but for the most part we just traced our teacher's copies to save time.
