There's a story here! In fact...
He gasped as he stared at the nape of her neck in unblinking disbelief.
He had been curious. She had alluded to her scars, but had refused to show him. She had mournfully hinted at the "sign of her shame" but would never let him see. Until now.
Now he knew why she had been so secretive. Now he understood why she hadn't shown him earlier.
"Then it's true..." he whispered as she let her hair fall back down over her neural import drives.
She turned to face him, but kept her gaze upon the floor.
"They...you've...you are..."
"An escaped cyber-slave." she timidly and quietly finished for him.
"How...how much...I mean...how much of you..."
"Has been cyber-ized?" she sighed as she rubbed her left forearm with the fingertips of her right hand. He swallowed a growing lump in his throat and nodded a slight frown briefly crossed her lips before she continued. "Too much. They took...they changed far, far too much. I..." she paused to rub her eyes with her right hand. "I...can't help but wonder." she said with a weak, fragile sort of half-smile. "If there really is enough "Human" left for me to be called...human." She crossed her arms over her chest still looking down, still refusing to look his way.
A slight nervous giggle escaped her lips as she shook her head.
"You know," she sighed as she finally locked eyes with him. "They stole my humanity, and they tried to take my free will, but the irony is that, in the eyes of the LAW," she continued, stressing law with a sarcastic tone. "I'm the only criminal here! I stole company property and..."
Tears flowed freely down her face as she launched herself into his arms.
Rage and sorrow mixed in his heart and in his mind.
The injustice.
The hypocrisy.
He gently scooped her face into his hands as he tenderly lifted her chin, until her gaze met his.
"I don't care what the law says," he gently and firmly reassured her. "Or how much they've taken from you. No matter what they did you are a woman. Just as human as anyone else, and just as special." he smiled as he flipped a stray strand of her hair from her eyes. "Now tell me...what do you need?"...

Ok, in this case, the surgery act takes 72h, and it's a little more risky and expensive.
BTW...it's not either really usefull...knowing that you'll never eat, sleep, have emotion anymore, idem for all other pleasures that makes life nice...
You'll just be stronger et get a better computing capacity (for "computable" things).
Ha and...you'll get a better (boring) life expectancy...
Believe me : you don't want this button on your neck. And you don't want a reason to get it...

Emotions can cause unproductiveness and uncontrollability, so those who pay the surgery wont allow that, it´s diminishing your usefulness as a corporate tool.
