Description Here's my entry for sketching contest of his splendid character,Β Calamity. Rules being taking a sample of any provided sketch and designing it into a final picture. More info about the contest can be found here:Β  The Great Sketchdrop Contest (Closed)Hey, folks; how's life been treating you?
So, if you watch me, you probably know by now, courtesy of the flood in your art inbox, that I recently posted bookoos of sketches I've had laying around. Well, it's time to grab your galoshes, 'cause we're gonna wade out into those floodwaters. I'm certainly not the first person on here to do a sketchdump, but I got to thinking maybe we could make things a little more interesting...
So here's the deal; I'm going to turn it into a fun little contest! I like most of these sketches, but I'll just never have the time to do anything with them. That's where you come in; you can give them a new life! Choose a sketch, any sketch, that you like from one of the following collections, and turn it into a finished picture. Ink, color, paint, pastels, macaroni... whatever you want. Go nuts!
(ProTip: They're really high resolution, so make sure you hit the "download button" on the deviation page to get the best version to work with.)

Hope y'all like it!

Great job! You've got really uniform linework (did you use a vector program, perchance?) and the hard shading adds a nice subtle bit of depth to it. There's also a sort of... I dunno... puffiness to it? Like, you know those puffy stickers they make? It kinda feels like that...
Also, where'd you get the texture for the background? That's either a really cool-lookin' rock wall, or a really close-up view of a jawbreaker...

(On a side note; it's "Calamity" not "Clamity"... you might wanna fix that. I make that typo all the time; the keyboard just seems to want to do that when you try and type his name fast.)

Thank you very much for the kind feeback dude. ^~^ I used Paint Tool SAI, which is a vector program/software, to illustrate your character here. It's personally my preferred software for illustrating in general, as it relatively easy to work with and has most, if not, all of the features you need to illustrate anything.

The textured background was actually from my current animation/college project. One part of the project was to create textures from a few different sources, such as low tech and digital. The background texture was part of my low tech experiments, which I created using brusho, where I applied several different coloured powders onto a small sheet of paper (A5), and then sprayed with water, which resulted in the grainy/rocky looking texture in the background. As I had several textures later scanned into the computer, I thought this particular texture would fit well in the background for your character, as it consisted a range of warm/hot colours and rocky texture, I thought it would fit the Australian theme pretty well.

And thank you for pointing out the spelling error as well, I shall change that right away. My apologies for the incorrect spelling there also.Β Β

Thank you very much for your comment once again mate, I'm pleased to hear you like it. ^~^

Wow, that's all the more impressive that you made your own texture like that. That's really nifty. You chose well; it works nicely.

Speaking of textures, you should check out my friend TheJenjineer , she's been known to do some interesting things with textures from time to time.
