I'd say it's a water dragon or something like that...no, you're right. It's a strange fish.
I've tried goache like once before and I must say, it's not easy to paint with it. But maybe that's because I'm more of a watercolor person. I guess gouache is more your style and I really like it! Your technique is incredible already, specially considering your age. But I think you should try think more out of the box and try colors that would be out of place when you think about something. For example, don't always paint your water with blue. When I'm painting water, I usually mix some green, even brown in it to make it look more natural. Because when you think about it, does water always look blue? No. It reflects all kinds of thing around it, like ground, trees etc. so it's not perfectly blue, even if the sky is. And in very clear water you can see the bottom, which is just dirt and rocks, usually.
Go outside. Look around you and take notes about the colors in nature. Not everything is lush green or bright blue.

What I'm trying to say is that you're already good at the mediums you're using. Next, you should learn the color theory. And trust me, it goes far beyond the basic " mix blue and yellow and you will get green" type of stuff. But once you learn it, it's actually pretty simple and you can do it even without thinking it too much. At least I can.
