Would y'all believe that this was supposed to be a sweet, fluffy piece when I started? This is what happens when I listen to the Goo Goo Dolls while I draw. I like this darker angle, though.
Basically, this turned into an inking practice exercise. I think it turned out really well.
I want to incorporate this scene into a fic idea.

Such a tender kiss, despite the gloomy atmosphere. But I like that, too: this way, their kiss is even more secret, far from other people's eyes. This drawing tells so many things, I guess Β it's because you had a fanfic plot in your mind. I mean, we have hints at a shipwreck, am I right? The reddish shades also reveal that a ship or something is on fire.
Then, there was a fight in the middle of the night and the two of them got separated from their crews, or something like that.Β
Just a note: the sea waves at the top of the "page" shouldn't be more flat, to give a perspective idea?

Not a huge fan of ZoroXTashigi but I do love the way this picture looks! It reminds me of those scratchy papers that you scratch away the black layer to reveal the color underneath. Nice work!

This is an amazing job you have done here!
The darkness adds the perfect element and you get the sense of hope flaring after the darkness of despair. The firelight adds the sense that they should be in the middle of a fight... but got distracted because of Zoro's lack of bandages, XD.
The only thing I can see remotely wrong with is his hand, and I know I can't draw them at all.
Hmm, I sense a story behind this...

Oh, the hands in this make me cringe whenever I see them. I've been working on them a lot, though, since I drew this. I'm learning as I go, slowly but hopefully steadily.

This image looks amazing, I like the dark tone about it as well. It makes me wonder what exactly happened around them. I think this practice idea turned out really well, it looks more like you've always known what your doing, you don't need to practice! Your perfect the way you are. (Well, I guess no artist thinks their perfect, if they did their wouldn't be any strive to improve oneself) I also like that you didn't flood this deviation with just random color. I think color would have taken away from the emotion in the picture, the picture has such a passionate feeling about it, which is emphasized by the dark tones of the color. I love this picture, its an instane fav, but I'm sure you knew that already!

*blushes* Thanks a lot. Honestly, this picture really was an inking experiment (and I killed about three pens in the process). I'm glad it looks good, though. I really want to do more work in this style. Originally, I was going to keep it black and white but I decided to add the texture last-minute to give it a a smoldering shipwreck feel.
But yeah, thanks for taking the time to leave such thoughtful comments. It really means a lot.

This is a very cool result, visually. Your inking practise certainly paid off, particularly when it comes to hatching, especially on their faces. I've always been afraid to attempt any sort of hatching with ink on faces, so this is very impressive for me to see. I think taking the darker option was a good move, too; I really like how you implemented that texture as well.

Oooh, thanks a lot! I was actually worried about the hatching on the faces, so I'm glad you like it. Putting any kind of marks on the faces is pretty scary. It's so easy to completely ruin something. >.<;;
