Construction Notes:
I decided to bring my original Terra costume to Otakon on a whim, not having worn her in about three years. Long story short, I am so glad I brought her out -- otherwise I'd have never been able to collaborate with Jack on these photos, all of which are incredible! It is so wonderful to work with a photographer who knows the character and, despite the fact that we were both sweltering in 100+ degree heat on a rooftop in the middle of Baltimore, was somehow able to capture a shard of Terra's personality. I am hopeful we will get to work together again!

I will always love FF VI and I believe that Terra's role as the lead in that game was not just a landmark for the series, but for gaming in general. Instead of looking sexy like most women do in video games, she simply looks well...different. I think that helps to accentuate how her character is different from most humans in that she is part esper. Moreover, I feel that this cosplay definitely captures that element from the almost insect-like eye-lash patterns and all their intricacy, to the restraint shown in the hair. Instead of dyeing it completely, only a little bit of green is put in. This just screams "TERRA!" because she isn't one way or the other, she is mixed. Well done sir! Well done. ^_^

What's with the special request?
I didn't come here having anything bad to say about the image, I was just checking it out, but now I have a question.
Exactly what kind of artist says they do NOT want any critiques or criticism? What kind of artist does not want to hear other points of view that AREN'T just kissing their ass? You don't come here for compliments. You come here to improve and grow. You get compliments and fans and favorites but you ALSO get critiques, criticism, and people who do not like your art. And what's wrong with that? It helps you grow. It turns you into the sheltered child of the art world. You need to expose yourself to real opinions, to the public.
I assume you say that because you have had people who very much dislike your art before.
Wouldn't you rather learn WHY?
Wouldn't you rather hear their points of view? Their advice on how to do something better? Tips, critiques, things they have to say? Wouldn't you rather hear their reasons, rather than blocking them out and only letting in bubbly, sugary compliments?
I see this request on too many deviations, nowadays. It disappoints me that deviantART is stooping so low so as to shun improvement, critique, and advice.
So here. That's my advice to you. Don't try to block out critique. It may just help you, in the long run.

Since you REALLY seem to want to elicit a response from me, having posed NINE questions in your comment, I'll fill you in: This is a silly, fun, whimsical hobby for me. This is not a career path, nor is it something I intend to pursue beyond its current minimal presence in my life. I am a salaried professional, well into my career as a public school teacher. On the radar of "what is important to my existence," costumery is a tiny blip. Negative feedback and critique are simply not necessary -- this is something I do for FUN.
Let me put it into perspective: Ever go for a pleasant drive through the countryside, for no particular reason other than to relax and have a nice time? (I have, but then I grew up in a rural area.) Imagine that same drive except with a "backseat driver" who just will NOT stop freaking out and screaming in your ear about all the tiny things you are doing "wrong" while driving. That nice, relaxing drive's not so fun anymore, is it? I don't want "backseat drivers" in a hobby that serves as a form of escape and personal amusement. I don't want to hear "personal opinions" about my physical appearance being inappropriate for characters, minute details being incorrect, and my presentation of the character not being what someone else had imagined. I don't need any of that rolling around in my head as I continue to enjoy my chosen form of recreation. All I'm looking for is some good, clean fun.
Oh, and for the record, I do not appreciate the generalization about my followers "kissing my ass," nor the insinuation that I, a "sheltered child of the art world," only invite "bubbly, sugary compliments." I don't force anyone to follow my work and I certainly don't force them to reply to it. While I certainly do appreciate compliments, there's little I hate more than duplicity.

I see that you're mad. Okay, sweetie, I'll leave you alone, lest you become further ruffled at any observations of mine. You go on and frolic and only really listen to compliments on your work, it REALLY shows that you're a well-rounded person. After all, you don't care about it. It doesn't matter. You don't take it seriously, and therefore never need to listen to outside opinions on what you may do better. Growing iz 4 losers. Have a nice evening.
