Description Here is a very nice color illustration of Alex Power of Marvel's Power Pack done by the late Barry Blair. Barry was supposed to do the illustrations for my book, A Pack of Trouble, but he died just shortly after finishing his first illustration. It is very likely the last illustration that he did before he passed away and it can be found in that book. The publisher is Homeworld Press. More from Barry Blair to come.

OH.

Didn't realize this was a commission, and he died. Β Sorry

That's okay. I always thought that it would be easier to tickle them if they didn't have those thick boots on.

then please redo the drawing! Β Put them all in the stocks like they deserve, goats licking, them laughing their little heads off

Where's the rest of Power Pack? Β They're supposed to get captured by the snarks and tickle tortured till they give up their powers !!!

I do have more illustrations of Power Pack by Barry Blair in my gallery. One interesting shot of them on a rooftop. Actually he did several on top of rooftops.

I want to see Power Pack locked helplessly in the stocks, tickle tortured on their bare feet by Snarks, who want their powers

I agree to a certain degree. I've always felt that most superheroes roamed around in tights all the time.

Seems like Alex asked the guys in Elsewhere to make him some tights.
Looks like he's trying out for Billy Elliot.
An interesting piece indeed, since Alex defenitely looks more feminine here.

That is true. I'm not sure why Barry did it this way. Maybe he had trouble drawing the boots or maybe he liked it better this way. I do know that he did tend to draw the Power Pack group without the boots a lot of the time.

Back in the 90s when I was still interested in Elfquest, I had a chance conversation with Colin Walbridge on this topic.Β  They used books on children in ballet for many of their body models--which provides a pretty good explanation why the characters have curved spine positions and their butts out all the time.

Now that you mention it I can see the ballet reference in this illustration. Might also explain the absence of the Power Pack boots. I can't picture a ballet dancer wearing that type of footwear onstage.

Somewhat inaccurate. The Power Pack uniforms didn't have the feet in; the kids are barefoot in their boots.

That is a very interesting illustration.
