Description A doodle originally from my Africa trip that I only now managed to color.

This scene is actually based on a story I developed when I was in junior-high - named "the Valley of Cats"
Starred by a young mouse who accidentally got lost and found the valley inhabited by the terrible creatures he had only heard from fairy tales, the cats,
that eventually end up being rather different than he expected...Β

I used to be (and still am) a huge fan of Brian Jacques' Redwall-series that served as inspiration for this story, but I haven't really worked on it for ages
this is the first time I ever wrote or drew anything down...Β

But it was fun to do something different for a change :3

lol my official Halloween pics are not ready yet so this shall do, but nevertheless
Happy Halloween everyone!

I'm down for that because I rarely find someone who has read the books as much as I have! It's like 'why haven't you read these books? ;^; they're as good as any other young adult novel

Oh tell me about it! I've always been such a bookworm
yet luckily I have a couple of friends who are too but they don't read as much fantasy as I do

I'm a huge bookworm as well! Unfortunately this small thing called college is sorta impeding on that >>

But yeah back in High School and elementary school I used to finish these huge novels in hours

I remember knocking out the Percy Jackson series in like two weeks. And don't get me started on the amazingness that is Stephen King's The Dark Tower

Tell me about it XD
but I've taken a habit to pick a book I wanna read and read one chapter each night before going to bed
very relazxing and tons of fun
just going with the last book of Artemis Fowl series - if you haven't read them - do it! they are the best books ever!

Oh man yes XD I too took the whole set of Percy books from the library and read them in a week
last spring

I may need to do the same thing then.
No I haven't and I've been meaning to! *puts that on list*

I knocked out a lot of Young Adult books in high school. Percy Jackson, The Mortal Instruments, The Hunger Games. Kane Chronicles. Then I read His Dark Materials and then read them again like three times >>. Such fantastic books. AND I just got done with finishing the latest book of A Song of Ice and Fire. Omg Martin you're such a troll!

Now to finish my mom's own books x'D I feel like such a terrible daughter.

you will love them! I mean I've read them so many times and still I laugh my ass of by every single reading!

I still read young adult books - they are just too much fun.
Of course I do the old classics and adult novels as well - yet I haven't gotten myself to read the song of ice and fire just yet
even though all my friends reads it XD

haha I have a rather vast library of my own >8D

I like laughing in books

I've been meaning to read more of the old classics. I'm tromping through Les Miserables at the moment. Slow going unfortunately.

heh me too ;D books rarely make me cry
but laughing is totally different matter

I have books like Gone with the wind, Anna Karenina and the Count of Monte Cristo waiting for me

Oh my- I thought I was the only one I can count on my hands the times where I've cried during a book, but laughing? Geez x'D

Such books . I'm also trying to get through Lord of the Rings.Β  Good grief x.x

EXACTLY! Then when I tell people that, they think me heartless or something . Uhhhm no, I just have a better grip on my emotions. Same thing goes with movies x'D

My friend always tells me I'm going to cry, then when I see it, I don't. At all.

They're written really well but geez it's a long wall of text when they're walking through the woods

The only book that has ever made me wheep like a baby is "Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the WorldΒ " by Vicky Myron
every single time I read that book I cry my eyes out ...Β
but not on others ...Β

but with movies - I cry all the time! ALL THE TIME!
I mean I cry in the every single episode of Extreme Makeover home edition XD

x'D Well... I don't see how. It's a bunch of house but

I know and it's totally stupid and naive the whole series XD
but I still cry every time the family sees their new house

Topkicker26 In reply to CuriousCucumber [2014-11-10 23:44:48 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes! They're King's finest books in my honest opinion SO fantastically written. It's like western, sci-fi, horror... all mixed into one.

Or is it more like tears of envy?

"Oh my god that house. I want that house. Why why why can't I have that house."

This question may sound silly, but did you use a base color? Like, painted everything on the same color and then painted above that, or used a palette? I'm quite a noob with this digital coloring thing, and I would like to try new ways of doing it... ;A; SORRY FOR BEING ANNOYING!!

CuriousCucumber In reply to NabiBlue [2014-11-03 21:18:01 +0000 UTC]

No no XD always ask away!
I first made the flat colors - but then I had a simple layer of brown
onto which I did the shading by grayscale technique.
then I just put the colors on top of like on overlay and added some filters and gradients
