Most often he only needs to glance at her and Piper understands, but at times she gets too into her own babbling that Rody needs to get her attention with other methods.

Generally the bond these two share is something special - something way beyond friendship and love. From the very beginning Piper was the only one who was able to read Rodys literally nonexistent expressions and somehow sense what's going on in his mind. It didn't take her long also to learn to read exact words from his optics.

Piper herself can't exactly describe how she does it, but I think mostly it's because Rody trusts her - so he won't hold his feelings back around her. It's also about Pipers open attitude, and the way she treats Rody like there would be nothing weird in the fact that he doesn't speak, that helps her see behind Rodys shy shell.

All in all they complete each other perfectly. Piper is the one through whom Rody can speak - and in Rody Piper has found someone who will never get bored of listening to her babble of flowers.
