there's that scene where they find an old flash drive full of the gem empires plans to turn the earth into a parking lot.Β Peri ,bless her heart, says "Oh Jeez this coulda been great" and since its a Saturday morning cartoon and humanity's ugly side is never shown the gems get all buttmad and tell Peridot shove it.
Β I woulda loved it if instead the gems have a flashback to all the times they had to make a tough decision on whether they were gonna try to help humanity improve or just leave it be, and it backfiring somehow(at least a little bit) every single time. Its back in 1963 and Quartz is like, "Look LBJ, what ever you do to fight da commies, DONT Engage in a land war in south east Asia" and then he dose it anyway.
