Just as a cool piece, I found this nine minute claymation short that's a wonderful tribute to the original Lovecraft story. The one thing Lovecraft excelled in was atmosphere;in my opinion this short captures that tone of Crawford Tillinghast's evil machine to a T. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxY90m…
P.S. Just out of curiosity, do you think Tillinghast's machine was the one Nylarthotep (as a tall, dark man) showed off to that audience in the eponymous story? A part of me likes to that the elder god managed to get that thing working again after it was sabotaged at the end of "From Beyond".

to to Tillinghast from the dark pharoah himself...!
In Nylarthotep, we can see that Lovecraft invented the original Slenderman,
and the meme of the eternal malevolent baddie that tinkers with men's fear.

I see, now it all makes sense. I was always confused by the ending of Nylathotep; now I see that the machine really did work and it altered everyone's sense of reality. I guess Tillinghast got more than he bargained for when he showed up in attendance that night.
You know, I have this image of Foxxxy using the creatures spawned by Tillinghast's machine to do menial house work: this would be mowing the lawn, washing her G-strings, give Eleanore a body massage, etc. As a sorceress, she has no reason to be intimidated by cross-dimensional monstrosities.

On a side note, I always regarded "Phantasm" as a direct tribute to HP Lovecraft's mystical techo-terror tales.

created by Gloomwitch from hapless ex-lovers are my answer to the "Deep Ones", and other cursed shamblers!

Interesting! I always though of Gloomwitch as the offspring of Yog-Solothoth, like the brothers Whateley from Dunwich. I had this image of her throwing an enfant terrible tantrum in front of the outer god, until he relented and let her and her spoiled friends dimension-hop for Spring Break. But based on your description, it's good to see she's more content having fun in the sun at Devil's Reef!
Phantasm is a horror classic and a very unique animal all its own. It also has one of the best horror soundtracks right up there with Halloween, Day of the Dead, and Tenebrae. I've been meaning to see In the Mouth of Madness; I used to see it in video stores as a kid and I can't believe I would always pass up on it.
You know, I always thought the world of Scorch could use a Shoggoth. After the insurrection that led to the hibernation of the Great City in Antarctica, this Shoggoth moved to the dimension of Scorch where they hit it big in the entertainment industry with an infernal machine known as the BARD 9000X: a supercomputer that prints scripts for film, television, and web series shows based on gathered content from ticket sales, TV viewing patterns, and webpage clicks. This keeps the entertainment in Scorch on a permanent loop of "...stuff you know you like!". If Belinda and Cindy want to know why the entertainment in Scorch is bland and homogeneous, then they know an eldritch horror is at work.

Gloom's back story is similar indeed to the Wilbur Whateley, the child of a human mom and
not so Earthly dad...
to tantrums and being weird, but always hides behind her Necro-queen big cousin.
She makes her debut in the upcoming Triggergeddon Megaskank comic, where she will help
face off against Bardon von Shadman...A truly fearful foe for any young lass to encounter...!
You have great taste in movies, man. Phantasm was a type of experience we won't get on
screen unless some new generation of horror savant director/writers come along...I am not
getting my hopes up...We have junk like "The Nun" to contend with in this modern era...
The next Scorch comic (all 44 pages inked and scanned!) is going to cover a judge dredd
parody, but the following tale was actually going to be about an invasion of movie-obsessed
rat beings from another dimension, who are based on Brit TV program, the Clangers, mixed
with a war of the worlds meets Hellboy satire plot...It might still happen.
Although the inker DocAllan is no longer in contact, so I may have to do ink duties on this
one. But that said, your Shoggoth idea has me interested and laughing at the craziness of
it...How do we make a Lovecraft tale sexy? We add curvy demon girls to the narrative!
