Description
His powerplant is an aged radial piston engine of around 2,200 hp. His armament are six 20mm automatic guns with 250 rounds per gun, enclosed in a moveable spherical turret. The machine can intercept a target (an incoming nuclear-armed heavy bomber) using his dipole radar antennae and can switch to optical sensors (IR and visible) to approach to target and to aim the turret guns. The drone fighter can be monitored or piloted remotely by encoded radio signals. Recovery is by parachute. Near-suicide point-blank gun firing is possible.Related content

How would you keep the airframe from rotating around the prop shaft yet still be connected to the rest of the plane?

Looks great, the perfect battle drone, looks viable for RL.

Really creative! I love the way this looks! It's menacing looking.
If i could make a suggestion, I would think it would need more fuel. And, if this is vacuum tube era maybe a bigger electronics bay.
But something like this makes a certain amount of sense even today. It looks relatively straight forward and inexpensive.
And that huge prop would give t good efficiency (long range). Perhaps the prop is big enough to permit vertical takeoff!

Not so radical.Β We can see... a reposition of the propeller in order to make use of the powerful air stream created by the double propeller to generate extra lift in the annular body profile surrounding the engine and at the same time to cool the big radial; all this without compromising the forward position of the gun turret.

Cool and interesting design. What would be its maximum range of flight?Β

Around 800 Km at cruising speed and altitude. A combat radius of 300 Km and half an hour of combat at "combat power".

Cool. Also I didn't mention how the sphere turret is an innovate idea. For a drone.

That's pretty cool! Β It almost looks like it could recover VTOL with that prop!
