Description

Using 3D design to create a rocket launcher for a 1/35 scale model kit.

Fifteen years ago I purchased several plastic model kits with a book collection about Armoured Fighting Vehicles. Today I have the space to work on these models that come without box from various brands.

When working in a T-34/76 soviet tank (kit from Zvezda) I noticed that I had lost a piece of the gun mantlet. So I decided to change the turret completely.

I studied several concepts to mount anti-tank, assault or anti-aircraft guns in place of the turret, but none came to fruition.

Finally I decided to create a rocket launcher, albeit appear ahead of his time, too advanced for a wartime soviet device (always I was thinking in a German design on a captured T-34/76 chassis as for 1944-45).

However, the round cast steel turret had a definite post-war era Soviet style. so I decided to paint it in the same Russian green paint as the 1950's Soviet armor.

Then I rented the services of a 3D printer to create the pieces. Finish was poor, and some details are lost. I quickly assembled, primed and painted the pieces to see the results. Finishing and weathering will come after much needed work.

If you need something like this, and you count with a 3D printer service, you can contact me!

this is awsome, I have been interested in this for a while now but can you tell me where i can obtain a good 3d printer without it costing me a leg?

I don't know. These pieces were made with a 20,000$ printer, and surface quality is "fair" in the best case.

Yeah! Thanks to modern TechnologyNow 3D modeler's can touch their own designs with their own hands! of course they can produce unique scale models That well known Plastic kit producers never have!! Great work as usual,Congrats

I wonder, how much money did the service ask for your print?

It was a test. It was free for now, but they plan to earn 75-80$ for something like this. Not a business for me.
