Wow, Marty. It suddenly hit me about five minutes in that playing famous with the big rollers might have darker repercussions than what the younger audiences get at first. Let's just say this guy REALLY needed this Guacola to sell so he could blow that entire paycheck on something as plain as the bony nose on his face: Marty may very well be a crack addict. (THEORY! lol) He shows all the signs, and it freaked me out the more I made comparisons to actual addicts.

Okay, okay, I'm aware the SU fandom can pick apart things to death. He may just be ailing from drinking all that Guacola for meals, and the show would never say outright was sociopath Marty's deal is, but this character just leaped out at me as a great example of just how slippery the showbiz slope can be, even if it's totally not the case. The episode mainly offered a pretty solid perspective for people calling Greg a deadbeat father. Marty's such a nasty deadbeat, and his kid's not even a confusing half-alien with often scary superpowers. Greg just can't handle half of what's happened with Steven thus far. It nearly gave him a heart attack once.

Anyway, this was a good slice-of-life ep compared to some I wasn't crazy about. Not bad at all for a show that started off being a dumb Cookie Cat derp-moment kind of cartoon.
