got what i needed for the wire service i was shooting for ... jumped up on an unused ladder ... and saw this. this was right at the media malestrom concerning these two and typifies the moment.Related content

I love how the look in her eyes and the fact that you can't see his face combine to give this photo an incredibly poignant feel. It's amazing.

I cant quite interpret the look on birtney's face, but its compelling when compared to that of the crowd's, her expression seems real and shows true emotion like shes trying to tell us something, the others look like there wearing masks, like they dont even care what britney and justin have to say, or care who they really are, that they are just stuck on the fact that they are huge celebritys and not real people like you and me, stuck in the middle of all this caos, having there lives exploited upon the world by these people who are making money off of it. Now i think i understand what britneys eyes are trying to say. The emotion that is portrayed and the black/white contrast make this picture one of the best photographs Ive ever seen.
all your works are amazing but i like this one the most, your work stands out because its real and shows the photographer cares about the subjects.

what's interesting ... is that i let someone use my prime spot ...
so that i could use their ladder. they looked at me like i was on drugs. but ... happily let me have a perch.
to me ... i know what was going on that night ... with many of the people in the image. which, of course, made it all that much more interesting to me.
this one is a 16x20 fibre printed by one of los angeles' best darkroom guys ... you should see it ...
the scan does it no justice.

this is such an amazing shot. The contrast between the white clothing of Britney and .... what's his name.. and the darker background of the media. Britney and what's-his-name look like angels decended from heavens in some bad Hollywood movie or something.
Love the determination one the faces of journalists to get a comment. heh.

I think everyone was so enthralled by their relationship that the media just ate it up and never lossened their belts. I love the lady on the left. Her expression says it all as to the futrue of this relationship gone bad. Perfect. You are very creative with what is infront of you.

I love this shot! I'm no huge fan of Britney, or Justin, or Pop music, but this one is just great.
Both of them in white, standing out from the predominantly black-clad media, and the look on Britney's face, looking at Justin, almost like she is trying to understand what he is thinking, and trying to cover that with a thin fascade of happiness. The vulture-like reporter on the right is great too - he almost looks like he can sense the death in the air, looking so intently at them.
You can even see the different focus-points for the people in the crowd. All the male members of the media intent on Britney, all the women staring at Justin.

ya' know ... this was one of the first times i broke out the leica at a red carpet event.
i had an amazing position for all the madness and i turned to the person behind me who was standing on a ladder, "You want to trade places?"
she looked at me like i was stupid.
i wasn't. i just knew i wanted a different perspective.
honestly, this is probably one of my favourite photos.
this photo hangs in the halls of Warner Bros.

It may have been the first time your Leica was invited to a red carpet event, but thankfully it wasn't the last!
It's funny how people tend to be so... well... two-dimentional when it comes to viewing an event. The number of times I have been looked at funny when I was walked over something rather than around it is incredible. (Maybe therein lies a new genre - Parkour Photography.... Who knows.)
I can completely understand why this is one of your favourite photos, I must admit that it is one of mine too - not because of the "celebrities" in it, but just the scene altogether.
No wonder it hangs in WB!
And thank you for sharing it, and your other works, with all of us.
After having trolled your entire gallery the other night I am definitely going to have to stop using the Program setting on my dSLR and start experimenting with the wonderful world of Manual. (Plus I have a film SLR on layby to try and develop those skills, trying to become a "photographer" rather than a "point-and-clicker"...)

I don't know if it's just me, but the way they look and the contrast of justin's white coat, they look kinda angelic. That's weird! But to me, the way you shot it, it's like everyone wants a piece of them, and you see their celebrity status here, because they're being bombarded. I don't know, it just looks really interesting.

It seems so surreal to see these famouse people in your gallery, is it really interesting or has it just become something that you do? I love the expression on Britney's face, I know most girls think horrible things about her, but she sure as hell photographs well. The contrast between them and the mob of people trying to get near them is really amazing.

Cool shot and I agree with lOst about the colours. Her expression make me see a private moment altough they are surrounded by people, think this feeling could be enhanced by blurring everybody but Justin and Brittney...
