Description
besides publicists and manager and agents ...i don't hang out with chimps that much.
kidding.
i got to spend a few hours with a couple chimps. i'm still amazed at how much they are like us.
odd.
watching this particular chimp stick his finger in andy dick's ear and then smelling it ...
odd.
he understood english.
the chimp.
andy, too.
i think, at least.
the "wrangler" as those people whom "handle" animal talent are called was probably one of the strangest people i've met.
the chimp seemed more sane.
in fact, i think he was.
"ranger rick," i swear that's what he called himself, got pissy when his charge was called a monkey.
whatever.
i know there's a difference.
what was cool -- if the story is true and in hollywood that's not usually the case -- was that this chimp was an "air force rescue." again, so they said.
he liked skittles.
and earrings.
odd.
anyway ... i made a pretty cool head shot and thought i'd share. he had some of the most caring eyes. i thought i caught his gaze in a pretty cool moment.

Always amazing, Chris. Well done, brother!
There's a depth that reaches deep beyond the light and shadow in this. A connection we knew, but didn't quite acknowledge. Looking into an ancient soul, one that knows laughter and joy and play.
And something we humans don't quite understand.

today is my personal animal day. I am not too fond of animals shots generally, but this is going to be the third fav from this genre today
I like this calm and obeservant look - must be bc he recognized you as his brother
not meant as an offense, mate

be nice to the chimp! he's way more benevolent than that evil-ass monkey we have living in a certain large house in d.c.

Not sure if anyone else has said this, but he looks like he finds something terribly funny that none of us get. Looks more intelligent than half the people I know. I really like this photo.

You kick ass, you know that? (I'm sure you do, but wtf, thought I'd remind you.)
Gotta add this to my faves. Think it would look awesome in my gallery next to all my self portraits.
Maybe this is what I'm gearing up for... primate portraiture... Anybody got a monkey I can shoot? Or a chimp...?

Yeah they are much like humans; I had the opportunity to spend time with chimps during some travels....
Iām not a big animal person, but it was nice to see the similarities, and see something new for a change...
This is nice, very nice focus actually... gives us nice detail
There is something in his eyes that is moving (as funny as that may seem)

Which monkey was it? Several years ago, I spent a couple hours with "Ranger Rick" & his chimps, Sosa and Angel. So now I'm curious if this is the same chimp I had doing summer-saults(however it's spelled) on my lap. Would you happen to know which chimp is in the photo?

that dude's a freak.

Yes, my dad works in television and one of the shows, at the network he worked for at the time, had Ranger Rick on. I heard there were chimps involved, and headed down. Hung out in the office for a while, while the chimp went crazy in my lap....lots of flips, never holding still. He was pretty mean with those animals though---lots of mean yelling. Fun experience for me, but I'm not sure about the animals.
Chris, all animal people are freaks Five years volunteering at a Humane Society, and that's what I learned....animal people are f*cking nuts. Go to a dog show. You'll see what I mean.
