Description
Currently working on this as well as portfolio building. I am doing a lot right now. I used a reference on the pose and I can't find it. worked a little on the background, however I don't know how to fill in the gap yet.
Edit: So far todayΒ I have added in the under brush, highlighted the trees in the mid ground as well as background, and started to shade Kage. I also mapped out some shadows and highlights and began to work on the water. I'm wondering if I should add some fish or wildlife, however I run the risk of over crowding.

I think you should just add some fallen leaves on the water, I think it makes a simple but nice effect

As always, this is lovely
I love your wips. Seeing how your pieces develop is just thrilling.
You are simply a background WIZARD. I especially love your trees and how you do undergrowth, like ferns, for example.

How do you mean, 'fill in the gap'?
As it's about the background that you see between the hind legs and tail? I'd go for something calm as well. Perhaps a rock formation or light source, of course, it's your work and hind-light would bring up a lot of shading with itself.
I don't know so particularly, I'd just browse a lot of reference images and you'll come up with something for sure!

I know your focus might be on your animals, but my favorite part of your work are your trees. They're mind blowing! !
