Character commission for NeoTiamat

"This picture shows the allies of our heroes from the Final Gate campaign run by  www.deviantart.com/erinlamothe and  www.deviantart.com/neotiamat99. The are the NPC members of the Last Argument Adventuring Company ( www.deviantart.com/cyberaeon/a…), trying to save the planar city of Sigil from the machinations of the Ninth Key ( www.deviantart.com/cyberaeon/a…). They are shown here on an earlier mission, tracking down a selkie serial killer somewhere in the Elemental Plane of Water.

At the very top is Vitani Chausiku, a gnollish witch from some nameless Prime. Long ago she listened to the wrong person and walked through the wrong door, and ended up fighting in the eternal war raging between the Abyss and the Nine Hells. She escaped, but finding no way to return, moved to Sigil and set up shop doing what she did best -- solving problems and occasionally killing people. The Last Argument Adventuring Company are mercenaries, detectives, and general troubleshooters, although the Ninth Key is several orders of magnitude bigger than any trouble they've shot before. Below Vitani are the two Nyx sisters, Kharmione Nyx on the left and Kallixeina Nyx on the right, tieflings (that is to say, demon-blooded) troublemakers from the worst slums of the Hive. Khari was a swindler and scam-artist, perpetually dragged into the anarcho-syndicalist schemes of her well-read and cynically idealistic sister Kalli. The two descend from a shadow demon of deep sea persuasion, with independent shadows and teeth like a shark (Khari) and a viperfish (Kalli).

The man in the hat is Prof. Thomas Carter, a famous Mordentish archaeologist from the Mists of Ravenloft, who first left home because Mordent was no place for a gay man, and is now the reasonable, sensible, and long-suffering co-owner of the Last Argument, following a step through the wrong portal. He likes to be prepared with sixteen holy symbols for every possible occasion, but most often gives thanks to Anubis. Opposite him, with the red headband, is Svetlana Reznikova, once the daughter of gentry from a remote Ustalavan village, who should have died two hundred years ago when the village starved one harsh winter. Instead, she found her grandfather's old books in praise of Yog-Sothoth and became a cannibal ghoul instead. Fast forward a few centuries, and eating the brain of an angel-blooded wizard awakened something in the feral horror, who now lives in Sigil and attempts to be a woman and not a ravenous flesh-eater. People mostly confuse her. The glowing orrery in the center is the lightly fallen angel Dissonance, once a messenger of Akana the Kind, a goddess who found her faith changed by the conquerors of her people. In an effort to make a point that could not be ignored, Akana committed suicide, and so Dissonance was left to be an angel with no god.

Further down, the green dragon is Taher Bakhtiar, in truth an animate lump of occult malachite given life by a powerful psychic. Taher exists when he remembers and believes that he is real, which can be a bit of a pickle at times -- he also turns into a rather dashing human man with eyes of malachite and horns of obsidian. The seated woman is Eloxochitl, or Ellie for short, a shapeshifting holy warrior of the Xochipilli, the Aztec god of flowers, dance, and souls. She's a very chill and laid back sort of person, high about half the time, but if necessary she can turn into a jaguar the size of an elephant with rainbow-colored rosettes. Finally, the sandal is Zuzuzu, ostensibly a bakezori who chose to append itself to the Last Argument because it was bored, but in truth a cover identity for the Rilmani spy Sivha.

This is what our heroes have to help them save the day. But with friends like these, who needs enemies?"
