Well, funny you should mention being unsure of his species. I don't really know either. He's just some kind of furry creature. He definitely has a lot of feline influences in his pointy ears, nose, and long tail. His muzzle is a bit too long and bulky to be a cat's, though. Beyond that, I'm not really sure where the horns and blue stripe come from. I want to say that came from him originally using dark magic, and "body stripes + horns = dark magic user" apparently. He even used to have a scar across his eye. Oh, and his tail was on fire. I guess he was my "edgy" character. For what it's worth, you captured his appearance pretty well in your style! Maybe one little thing that's slightly off is the mouth. I don't think he'd have that lion-like black line on his lips, and the crease on the upper lip wouldn't be that pronounced.

I can't remember if you've seen this before, but here's a small album of some old versions of him. It might not clear up what his species is, but maybe it'll show some of his inspirational roots:

I actually wasnt sure about the mouth either, and I dont like the fact that everything I draw is somehow connected to lions lol
Gotta work on that. And yeah I saw these old pictures Maybe I'll draw the old version of him someday, looks pretty neat!

Ack... The old versions are a little goofy looking to me. Go ahead if you want to, I guess.

You know, my 100th deviation post is coming up. (It says 99 right now, but 4 of those are journals apparently, so they don't count.) Maybe I should draw retro Shaidz for my 100th post!
