I like both pokΓ©mon and Yo-kai watch. And though it looks like a rip-off, I have played the game and it's totally different. I really loved it, and the anime never fails to make me laugh

Another Level-5 anime, Amazing 3 Seasons, Dub by Dentsu, Voice acting is great, but the edits and censorship can burn in the 9th layer of hell.

I maybe a Pokemon fan, but the Yo-kai Watch anime is more interesting than the Pokemon anime.

Even though I'm a pokemon fan/nerd, I still gave this a chance, and I like it.Β
Heck, one of the reasons I got it was because I saw the anime on Disney XD and thought it was cool since it went through everyday problems kids and teens normally do face and turns it into something they can laugh at later on because it could be caused by a mischievous monster, not to mention the characters are relatable.Β
I don't usually call things "pokemon ripoffs", not even Digimon. I usually try things out before judging, and only compare things in terms of story and (when it comes to games) gameplay. If anything, those who play both Pokemon and Yo-Kai Watch will notice the different ways to encounter and obtain the games' various creatures, as well as the battle style (Pokemon has a turn-based battle system, while Yo-Kai Watch has a real-time system with the player only intervening when needed).Β
As for Ash... Well, he's a special case. He's forever ten, but his story and character are just ruined by poor writing and planning since the writers can't seem to come up with a way for him to pass the torch to another trainer or even age up. Meanwhile, Nate's age is unspecified, but we can assume he's either Ash's age or younger since his school's referred to as an elementary school in the english dub, but he seems to worry a lot more than an average cartoon or anime character, and to be honest, I think he over reacts on a lot of things even if they're small. It could be because of his experiences with the Yo-Kai, but then again, he is also quick to blame them as their habit of inspiriting people seems to ruin his day.

yeah but you BEFRIEND them you don't own them the name of the game is to befriend em not own them you don't train em they have your back ageist the bad yokai out to get humankind and you can only see em if you have the yo-kai watch, I do like Pokemon but in that game you own them and have to train them in yokai watch you don't have to train them
