Description Before CGI...there was stop-motion! And these are my ten favorites, excluding the ones mentioned on other lists.

As before, examples are done in chronological order.

Gumby (1953): I used to watch this all the time when it aired on TV...It always seemed so surreal that there would be clay-people like Gumby and crew, living alongside "normal" humans.

The Adventures of Mark Twain (1985): They did such a good job emulating Twain, and the animation as they entered the comet was so sublime.

The Trap Door (1986): I've seen dozens of these shorts on youtube, and love every one of them, especially 'Im Upstairs' bellowing.

Meet the Raisins! (1988): Ahh, the requisite Beatles parody.

A Grand Day Out (1989): All of Wallace and Gromit's shorts count, but I have special affection for the one that started it all.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): Tim Burton's dark imagery and Henry Selick's animation-style go well together for this holiday classic.

Bump in the Night (1994): If there was ever a rival to Gumby in terms of claymation tv, then this would be it.

Action League Now (1995): Okay, it's not completely stop-motion, but a blend of animation and puppetry that I like enough to include on this list.

Life With Loopy (1996): Much like Action League Now, this show was also a mix of stop-motion and puppetry.

ParaNorman (2012): Man, this was such a rollercoaster to watch. And the plot twist was a real gut-punch, fer sure.

I own nothing.
