This is a pin-up I did for the second book in Oddly Normal series.I'll be posting a final version colored by my wife very soon.

I missed out on several hours I could have been sleeping next to my wife to ink this damn thing.
I completely understand the urge to do whatever possible to finish an image as fast as possible.

Cool inks! I read your comments about using the small brush and I find myself going back and forth between a crow quill 102 and my 02 brush a lot.
My last post, RRAAGGHH in Colour took me two years to finalize too, so I feel like I'm in good company! I love the broken horn and the way you've drawn his hands. Those fingers are awesome!

I'm not sure if my board was too thin or if I was just pressing too hard. I also didn't find them to be as responsive as I thought they'd be. Although they did beat the living crap out of my crappy Microns.
But I prefer the brush.
Maybe I was working too big.

I used to use microns exclusively until I made the switch to a brush and quill. One thing about the microns is they have a lot of give. I think the stiffness of the crow quill takes a little getting used to when you are accustomed to the felt of the micron. Now that I've kind of gotten the hang of the quill, I really like the sharpness of the line they produce. As far as your board... I dunno. I usually use 100lb paper, so I can't imagine the board being too thin. Maybe you're just too damned much of a man to have a dainty touch with a pen! Hell, you recognized a can of Billy right on the spot so you've got to be!

I actually started out inking this with a Hunt 102 crow quill pen. But it was the first time I ever used one and I was having some difficulty (I think my board was too low quality cause I was tearing the crap out of it and the ink was bleeding all over the place.) so I switched back to a "00" brush. I tried not to make my lines as thick as I normally do and I think it turned out one of my better inking jobs.
