cyderak This looks great. Do you have a problem with heat?
TV are designed to be mounted vertically so that the heat dissipates through the top.
How did you handle this? I've heard the heat can warp the plexi glass and cause condensation in the screen.

Thanks.

Hey JerichoOne

Thanks.

No problems with heat because the game table is completely open on the bottom.

Plexi-glass flexes a little because of the heat but its not even noticeable and after your done playing a session, it goes back to where its supposed to be.

Absolutely no condensation.

If you want me to build a table for you,  I do build game tables and when you buy one I also include a copy of my 2000+ tactical battlemaps by all of the industry leading cartographers.

I really like your table, but I have concerns that using a display screen will cause problems a parallax problem visually distorting the position of the miniature on the glass vs. it's apparent position on the map grid when viewing from an angle. In other words, I worried that the distance from the glass to the actual pixels will cause a problem. I have built a table very similar to your first design (linked below), and we chose not to use a display screen because of the problems we heard from others about the parallax issues. Can you respond to that concern and tell us if it's a problem for you? I haven't rigged my projector yet, and after seeing your new design, I'm wondering if it's worth buying a projector instead of a display. Thanks

I have seen the game tables you're talking about. The reason why those tables displays distort the position of the miniatures is because they leave a gap between the TV screen and the plexi glass sheet. their plexi glass sheet is also 1 quarter inch thick.our plexi glass sheet is only 1/16inch thick and it lays directly on top of the TV screen with no gap.

Sorry, I see from your other pics that this is a screen mounted in a table. Looks great! Very impressive. I would LOVE such a thing!

This is an overhead projection? Tell us the specs!

What was used to make the dungeon?

No its not an overhead projection.

I used a projector in the first version of the game table, but it was contained inside the game table.

The newest version of the table utilizes a Samsung 40" LED TV that I mounted into the table with a universal flat panel mount kit.

I connect the 40" LED TV to my laptop which has D20Pro, the software I use to present and manipulate the Battle maps.

D20Pro is a Virtual Table Top (VTT) program that allows pen-and-paper gaming groups to play online.

I just use D20Pro for its ability to:
--Present and manipulate the maps.
--Utilize its Fog of War features.
--Use gif animations for spell effects, Monster animations, and animated objects.
(most of which I got here: [link] and then personalized the gif animations with "Easy Gif Animator", A program that allows you to tweak gif animations' speed and amount of images in the animation.)

As for the map I used, Its a map I made in MS Paint with these Battle map tiles: [link]

If you ever need any cool battlemaps, go here: [link] Its the "MAPS" section of drivethruRPG.com. The maps are in PDF format and you might have to piece them together but their well worth it. Sometimes they come already put together or you could just explain to the publisher of the map that you bought their map and would like to ask if they would send you the pieced together version of the map you bought they most times are willing to do it.

Any other questions, let me know.

Later.
