EDIT:Some of you have mentioned that the "hands are soft" thing is wrong and it only makes hands look unnatural. I don't disagree with you, however, I only wanted to point out that fingers shouldn't be square or too pointy. To make it clear, here's an example of what I mean:

You're not a loser. So don't worry about it. As for the soft part, I think all female hands are soft, compare to mans which has more complexity in it. Thanks for sharing this tutorial. Learning how to draw hands here as well.

Actually, depending on artistic style and the type of character (usually males), I think sometimes a 'hard' looking hand is justified; it's not necessarily wrong (unless trying to be realistic), not necessarily right, but it helps add variation to characters. Of course the example you link to looks funny with a boxy hand - the character has a lot of feminine curves, and the angular hands are out of place and make her look manly. But if you were an artist with a more exaggerated, cartoony style drawing boxy macho dudes, then drawing soft hands might look kinda odd.

hey! just wanted you to know I faved this at the beginning of today thinking it was neat and then I started making greeting cards (I draw greeting cards for my uncles gift store for extra cash) and I was trying to figure out how to draw the hands on this kid and then I remembered back to your little refrency thing here and I figured it out 8) just thought id tell you, this really is helpful 8)
