LoL! Guess which Kamen Rider I recently watched? XD
I almost gave up on watching Kamen Rider Kabuto, because the protagonist, Souji Tendou, was so arrogant that was getting into my nerves. However somehow around episode 6 I began to like him because he is arrogant, since it was hilarious how people react to him, specially KaGAmi.
Anyway, this crossover came to my mind when I noticed that the Worm, the main enemies from KR Kabuto, kinda work the same way as the changelings on MLP:FiM, as they also copy their victims and take their place.
So here it is Kabuto, ready to Rider Kick Chrysalis out of time.
PS: No, there is no reasonable explanation to why Kabuto is outside in the last panel. XD

I'm back again! Since my last comment, I've finished Kamen Rider Kabuto (and I've actually watched and finished several other Kamen Rider series since then), so I may as well give my final thoughts on it:
My opinion of Kamen Rider Kabuto is... mixed. On the good side of things, the fight scenes were awesome, and the characters were extremely likable. I really liked the dynamic between Tendou and Kagami.
On the not-so-good side, the story weakened severely over time, especially in the second half. Eventually things just got downright nonsensical. And then there were the Hopper Brothers. I said that I liked the characters, but these guys... ugh. Usually. I really don't like it when people call angsty characters "emo gits", but when it comes to the Hopper Brothers, no description is more appropriate.
So in short: The story wasn't very good, but I'll definitely remember it for its characters. I need to work more of Souji's grandmother quotes into my daily life.

Story usually is the weakest point on any Kamen Rider, IMO, but that is most of times counter balanced by the characters and their interactions.
It took me Den-O to realize that.
Also, I kind like the Hopper Brothers. Not just because the are a nice nod to Kamen Rider Ichigo and Nigo, but because they, to me, are a satire on the usual angst character archetype, so I really can't take then seriously and believe I'm really not supposed to. ^^'

It's possible that I've since gotten a different impression of the overall level of story coherency in Kamen Rider by watching Double, OOO, and Fourze back-to-back after finishing Kabuto. I found that all of those had pretty darn good stories that stayed coherent throughout. I'll have to watch more of the pre-Decade Heisei to see if the step-up in writing in the post-Decade stuff is as extreme as I think it is.
Huh. That interpretation of the Hopper Brothers hadn't occurred to me. But now that I think about it, viewing the Hopper Brothers as a parody of angsty characters makes a LOT of sense. In fact, I might actually like them a little more now. I suppose as I was first watching them, they sorta fell victim to Poe's Law .

Ah yes, post-Decade stuff gets a lot better. There are a few hiccups, but most of the time is just because of my tastes, so nothing really jarring.

Looking back, it is really not clear if they are or not a parody. I might even have understand some small details wrong, but I can't help myself. They look cool on the Rider Form, but outside of it I still can't take them seriously.

I just watched the first episode, but I liked what I saw. Wasn't enough to get the theme, though.
I'm quite behind on Kamen Rider these day too, finished Kuuga and decided to watch Agito right after, but never still didn't got too far on it and now time became an issue. ^^'
Also, I like to wait until the episodes are over, so I can watch them on my own pace. That said, I need to get back to Wizard any time soon.

It's really good. People are calling it the best neo-heisei series since Double (quite a bold claim, I know). For me personally, it helps that I'm something of a fan of Gaim's head writer. ^_^
Sadly, my exposure to pre-decade series is still rather lacking. At some point I'd like to sit down and watch Ryuki, though. Maybe even finish Faiz.
Ah yeah, I'm the sort of guy who can never wait for his favorite shows to build up a buffer of episodes before watching them. For instance, I can never resist devouring the episodes of MLP:FiM that get leaked early. T_T

Well, Chrysalis is dead. I don't know much about Kamen Rider, but the stuff I have heard is that apart from Discord, any of the MLP villains would be better off turning tail and running from a rider.
