Days had passed since the last time they had visited the river. It had been a productive raid, but still they had not found the item they were looking for, only craftable loot that Skjåk would bring back to his girl, April. Glamr walked on through the early autumn scenery. The air was still crisp as ever and the wind had an edge to its chillyness, telling tales of snow that was already starting to settle in the mountains. It would be an early winter, Glamr predicted as he and Skjåk walked on in silence untill they reached the silently streaming river. The rain from a few days ago had not affected the river much, barely making it look like a half decent river. The dry summer would be to blame for that. The ground was so hard and dry after the draught, any rain would repell from the surface or instantly disappear into the ground. The dark stallion looked into the water, noticing that just now, the fish were getting ready to spawn among the yellow leaves and dry branches. That was a good sign, the nature was slowly regaining her balance, and that in time for winter. Would the winter be harsh this year? Glamr walked like that, lost in his own thoughts while looking for anything useful, when Skjåk eventually broke the silence.

The old stallion shook his head as a spider's web stuck to his face. He had maybe been a wanderer before, together with April, but he was not particularily fond of spiders regardless. At least not their web; being all sticky and hard to rubb off.
''So.. you know that mare from before?'' Skjåk asked, still rubbing his face against his leg every second stride, fighting the sticky threads with subtle annoyance.
''I met her last year'' Glamr stopped and dug his hoof at the river side, investigating a couple of rocks but they were not what he was looking for.
Skjåk gave up on the spider web and had a look for himself near the river side.
''She looked tormented'' Skjåk replied, not sounding all that enthusiastic. This all sounded too much like private draugr business anyway.
''Im surprised you knew she was there'' Glamr sideviewed him. ''Even I had problems seeing her at first''
Skjåk tilted his head with an unaffected expression. ''I didnt at first either, but I saw her shadow when she escaped towards the forest.'' He explained casually.
Glamr settled with this explanation, Skjåk was anyway a good friend among the few selected horses he could stand be around. It was easy like that with Skjåk; he did not expect formalities, politeness or a deep conversation. He were quite alike Glamr in his silent ways. They were both thinkers, they both liked personal space and neither of them were interested in smalltalk nor painting their deep personal problems. He could relax with Skjåk, and he knew Skjåk felt the same way. Although, and this almost had Glamr smile a few times, Skjåk were a lot more dependant of his girl April than he willingly admitted. It had been challenge enough to ask Skjåk to come with him to the river, but once Skjåk was told he could bring all the items Glamr did not need back home to his human girl, suddenly it was completely fine to go for a stroll.
Skjåk noticed Glamrs smug expression and knew exactly what the stallion was thinking of. He snorted to himself and rolled his eyes. Just you wait Glamr, one day youll have a girl you cannot leave behind too, human or not. They kept on like that, searching the river for useable items for a couple more hours, heading upstreams as they went on. When the river bent around a corner they suddenly stood face to face with the mare from before.

Lille looked at them, surprised but at the same time looking as though she had expected to meet them even so. She pinned her ears insecurely, but waited patiently this time instead of running away. Her eyes rested on Glamr, the stallion with such a legendary reputation. A moment that felt like forever lasted while all three stood there, measuring oneanother.
''Lille'' Glamr greeted eventually.
Lille nodded, returning the greeting with a weaker hello. She looked over her shoulder, it was not far back to the forest and the river became a decent border between the three of them. Looking at Skjåk it was visible they were collecting items or looking for something special today as well. Before her curiousity got the better of her, Glamr interupted her thoughts.
''Are you out here alone today as well?'' He asked in a neutral tone.
Lille nodded, still aching to ask what they were looking for. The last time they met... Ohgod they had all seen her worts side, when she lost control, when she.... Unconsciously, she took a step back.
''You dont have to go'' Glamr said steadily. ''Are you looking for something?''
She did not know what to reply.
''You can come with us if you want to'' Skjåk pitched in, seeing the indesicive expression on the mares face.
Lille watched the two stallions as they wated for her decision. If she went with them... maybe she got an opportunity to talk to Glamr after all? To ask him about her current problem?
''Okay, I'll come with you.'' She replied and the stallions looked content with her decision. ''What are we looking for precisely?''
