Description
edit--> it was brought to my attention that I had uploaded an uncorrected tutorial. sorry for all the spelling errors- i'm a bit dyslexic and flip many of my words around. so here's the spell-checked versionmany of you have asked me for a tutorial so i've finally put together a step by step of my process. it's not much and is very simple but maybe it'll help a little
cheers!
oh, and by the way, if you ever commission me to do a character design, this is an example of the screen caps you would be getting every step of the way.

This looks awesome. However there is a problem I have. What I don't understand is how to color within the outlines only. I've heard there is a way with connecting layers with ALT key. I'm sick and tired of coloring and having always to erase around the outlines or certain areas. Isn't there some trick, some special way to make this easier? Maybe you or other people could help me?

hmm, i don't know of any easy tricks. i just paint the general shape and then color within the selection--keeps it clean for the most part. after everything is done and flattened i clean up anything i don't like.

definitely tablet. the mouse isn't pressure sensitive.

Nice! This is actually helpful No way I can stop painting over my lines, so I always select the various areas I want to point to keep within >.> But often I have grey splotches where no colour is, cause the selection was a little bit faulty.. I guess precision is really practice! However, the screen, and dodge/burn layer ideas are helpful.. thanks!!

WOW. That was really helpful, thank you! I didn't think you could color that way. I always did the sloppy way and spent hours trying to clean up. So thank you!

It's ok. ^^ I didn't realize the typo at first, but somewhere at the end there was a word missing...
just made it a bit harder to understand, espacially since it's kind of a condensed tutorial.
Thanks a lot for sharing and taking of your time!

Very interesting! I'd never think that you colored your characters this way!

It's clear and illuminating, using a vivid character as an example, and is likely to be very helpful. (To Photoshop wielders, certainly, which I'm really not as yet.)
Unfortunately, though, I have to note that your descriptions are full of typos. It's not that they can't be figured out, but they don't at all show you in your best light in providing guidance.

you know what, i am actually quite embarrassed. i had thrown this up the other night and now i realize that i never ran spell check and i did it quite hastily so i'm sure there are a TON of typos! i will be fixing that shorty i promise!
