Description
Taken from the cliffs on the island of Portland, Dorset, UK. This was a simple half-second exposure shot, and the only manipulation used was the removal of a small lens flare and a very tiny increase in contrast.August, 2005.

Smoother? How so? I would have thought the slower shutter speed 'smoothed' them a bit.

an even longer shutter speed could have made it smoother. just a thought.

very powerful dan, I love it in b+w too. the fact that the water contrasts itself makes this interesting to look at for ages on end. Wish I hate the time to waste tho haha. Ah well, soon enough

This almost looks painted I love how your work is always different, but never seems to not rock.
Glad to see you uploading again.
I really do like the b&w of this, but I really wonder what it would look like at only, say....90% desaturation. Give the color almost a ghastly feel to really drive home the implied violence of the crashing waves.
Or maybe I think too much
yay!

No no, that's not a bad idea at all. I'll have an experiment with saturation levels and see what happens. Thanks very much for the nice comment about my work - I've changed my travel plans a little too. Instead of just a week in Egypt, now it's a week in Egypt and three weeks in Dubai. I'm hoping to get some great shots

Well, there's a reason I uploaded it in black and white, and that's because the colours really weren't as interesting or as powerful as the simple monochrome contrast. Maybe I'll throw the colour one into my scraps at some point. Thanks a lot for the feedback though

Nothing serene about the water off these cliffs - people seem to get hurt there very regularly!
