After the End of world war I, France was forced to hand over Indochina to Germany, as it was the losing side.

After the defeat in the First World War, France was approximately in the same position as Germany in our reality(loss of territories, payment of reparations, restrictions on the number of troops). In the country, hatred for the Germans is growing, revanchist sentiments are emerging. All this led to the arrival of the fascists to power in the early thirties. By 1937, France was engaged in the rearmament of the army, the strengthening of defense on the border with Germany(the Maginot Line, for example). In the civil war in Spain, France supports the Republicans, as the francists receive support from Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. In this situation, France decided that ideological differences could be temporarily forgotten.
